About The New Barnet Day Nursery & Pre-School

The New Barnet Day Nursery & Pre-School is an OFSTED GOOD nursery in New Barnet, located in a converted house close to local transport links and amenities. Our nursery offers childcare for children from 3 months to 5 years in a genuinely homely setting, with strong safeguarding and nurturing care that helps every child feel safe, noticed and supported.
Our house-style layout creates smaller, cosy rooms where staff can really tune into each child, celebrating their milestones and offering calm, age-appropriate spaces for play and rest. Our devoted team brings a warm, family ethos and a range of experiences, enabling them to design play that reflects children’s interests and the lively community around us.
Our garden at the back of the house is larger than it first appears, opening into spaces where children may run on Astroturf, dig, explore water play or enjoy quieter corners under natural shade. Free-flow from certain rooms to the outside means children can choose to be indoors or outdoors, learning to listen to their own bodies, take gentle risks and build resilience in all weathers.

Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Fatma Yorganci

Hi, I'm Fatma. I joined the team in 2024 and was appointed manager of The New Barnet Day Nursery & Pre-School in May 2025. With over 20 years of experience in childcare, I'm passionate about the day-to-day life of a nursery. There's nothing more rewarding than being part of a child's early journey and giving them the very best start in life. I love watching children flourish during their time with us and seeing how much they enjoy coming to nursery each day.

Building relationships with new and existing families is one of my favourite parts of the job. I feel incredibly lucky to manage such a beautiful, welcoming setting that truly feels like a home from home. We have wonderful families here at New Barnet, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for us all.

Our curriculum includes Spanish lessons every two weeks on a Wednesday, introducing children to a new language and different cultures from an early age.

This enriches their learning experiences and helps develop communication skills, cultural awareness and a love of languages.

New Barnet nursery has been wonderful for our daughter, who adores her key worker and always comes home full of stories of how much fun they've had. They spend a lot of time outside in the generous garden, and have loads of toys and books at their disposal. I have always found nursery comms to be prompt and comprehensive. Fully recommend this nursery.

Highly recommend! I couldn't be happier with Little Garden The New Barnet Day Nursery & Pre-School . The staff are warm, caring, and so attentive with the children. My son runs in every morning with a smile and has come on leaps and bounds since starting. Great communication with parents and lovely varied activities. The nursery and the preschool is excellent. My little one has been here since she was 1, I chose it because of the nursery staff cause they were so welcoming and also if you had a complaint or an issue, it is dealt with subtly and officially.

Our experience has been hugely positive - we're so lucky to have this nursery nearby. Our son loves coming here, having lots of fun, eating nutritious meals, and aiding his development. The staff are amazing - everyone is very friendly and has helped make nursery a fun, safe and stimulating environment for my son. We'd definitely recommend the nursery to young families in the area.

Both my children are enjoying their time at nursery. Both are settled and look forward to their days and the activities they plan. The staff at the nursery are friendly, qualified and passionate about their work. I never have any stress of leaving them both in their capable care. The staff have always put my children's welfare first and have obliged to any personal habits or cultural differences. They make their experiences so personable. My granddaughter comes here for 3 days a week and loves it. They learn numbers, alphabet, colours, and learn to be independent going toilet. Food is lovely, and when children have allergies, they have different-coloured plates. They play outside, learning about nature/planets. Really impressed, highly recommend the nursery.

We have been very pleased with the New Barnet nursery. Our son is thriving there and we feel all the staff are very caring and attentive. We love all the little artwork pieces he brings home and the detailed updates we receive at the end of the day in person. I recently went to a Mother's Day tea at the nursery and it was lovely to spend time with my son in that environment and see all the fun he has with his carers and the other children. I would highly recommend the nursery.

Little Garden Barnet is an excellent nursery and my little girl is thriving whilst doing 3 days a week there. The staff are lovely and the structure is educational and fun. Daily communication keeps parents in the loop and ensures progress is always shared. I am glad I choose this nursery.

My daughter started at the New Barnet Day Nursery at the beginning of August (in the baby room) and I could not be happier with our experience so far. The team really helped my little one settle quickly and she is really enjoying her days at nursery, she goes in happy and smiling and comes out happy and smiling - I did not think it would be possible to achieve this in such a short space of time!! There are a lot of nursery in the area but I'm very very glad I chose this one!!

My two grandchildren have attended New Barnet for over 2 years. Whenever I drop in they are always happy to go and see their friends and their favourite staff members! They both have thrived at Barnet and things like their speech have improved so much. We are so appreciative of the team and all the hard work they put in. If you like your children to get outside and experience lots of new things then New Barnet is the perfect place.

I can’t praise this nursery, the manager and the rest of the team enough for the care they provide for my son. We came upon this nursery and attended an open day because we were unhappy with our son’s previous nursery. We explained that changing nurseries for a 12-month baby would have to be as seamless as possible and that if we noticed anything concerning whatsoever that we would not hesitate in cancelling his enrolment and taster sessions. Our concern was knowing that our son was being given the individual attention he needed whilst also being encouraged to interact with the other children and toys etc to establish confidence and ultimately a happy little boy. We need not have worried. My little man has been going to the nursery for approx 6 months now and everything from his confidence and happiness, to his eating habits and speech have continuously improved. I just wish we had found this place sooner!

I have had three children attend Head Start Day Nursery Barnet for the last seven years, having looked at competing nurseries in the Barnet area, I am happy to have selected Head Start Day Nursery Barnet. The staff are great and at the end of the day that is what matters, so you know that your children are being well looked after, fed and entertained. Meaning that when you pick them up they are shattered but happy at the end of the day. You can always find a place with more rooms, purpose built or with a bigger garden. However, Head Start Day Nursery Barnet use the space they have effectively and they have crucially key people that care and care passionately about child care. As a parent you know when your child is happy and I have no hesitation in recommending Head Start Day Nursery Barnet to anyone looking.

Our son is very happy here. His key workers seem attentive and have formed a strong relationship with him. They have pushed forward his learning in all the key academic areas such as math and language, as well as socially. The staff have helped come up with plans to work on behaviour problems when they occur, which has really worked to help him grow kinder and gentler. Their communication about what he's learning is regular, thorough and he loves sitting down at the end of the day to see the photos they've taken. I'd strongly recommend Head Start Day Nursery Barnet.

Having put my older son, now seven through Head Start Day Nursery Barnet and I am still so happy with the care and education that my daughter receives! All the staff are always smiling and welcoming, no question is too big! Both my children loved going there and learnt so much socially to prepare them for school! Being a key worker, I found the nursery extremely supportive to me and my child through both lockdowns. I felt assured my child was safe continuously, a lovely nursery and great first step!
