About Just Imagine Day Nursery - Wickford Station Avenue
Just Imagine Day Nursery – Wickford Station Avenue is an OFSTED GOOD (2023) nursery in Wickford, on Station Avenue just a short walk from the High Street and train station. The nursery offers quality childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years in a welcoming, family-feel environment where many children start in the baby room and stay through their early years. A passionate, long-standing team supports children as they grow, creating continuity and strong, trusting relationships with families.
Children progress through the EYFS curriculum with a mix of planned sessions, free play and focused activities based on their interests. Experiences may include imaginative play, early problem-solving, small-group learning and opportunities that build independence and confidence.
The nursery also supports children up to 11 years with breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs, helping families with wraparound care. Strong links with local schools, including Wickford Primary, Wickford Church of England Infants, and Hilltop Primary, help make school transitions smoother.

Nutritional Approach

Katie Cartwright
Hi, I'm Katie, the nursery manager. I joined Just Imagine Wickford – Station Avenue in January 2012. I have over 14 years of early years experience within all age ranges, including safeguarding and SEND. I was a senior practitioner and have now been nursery manager for 6 years.
I am passionate about my role and aim to provide a safe, nurturing and enriched environment for the children within our care, enabling them to learn and grow.

Our Curriculum
Our curriculum focuses on three key areas that progress through each age and stage. Children develop a confident voice, starting with singing nursery rhymes, basic Makaton and gesture recognition in our baby room, moving through to choosing resources, role play and building strong relationships that enable confidence by preschool.
We support children to learn independence, from supported eating and drinking, choosing resources and getting ready for the garden in our youngest rooms, through to managing toileting independently and developing school readiness skills such as changing for PE lessons. Children also learn to share happiness through celebrating moments throughout the year, achievements, embedding interests in planning and supporting each other.
Practitioners carefully adapt how each area is supported across the age ranges, ensuring learning is meaningful and developmentally appropriate for every child.
