The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School is an OFSTED GOOD (2023) nursery in Old Windsor, at 48 St. Luke's Road in the town centre with good bus links and large on-site car park. Our nursery welcomes children from 3 months to 5 years into light, airy rooms that create a warm and friendly space, with strong safeguarding and nurturing care helping every child feel secure and ready to learn.
Our dedicated team supports early problem-solving, communication and creativity through thoughtful play.
Our large adventure garden at the rear captivates with wooden play equipment and mud kitchen, divided for age groups so all children enjoy outdoor discovery. Children may also explore music or growing activities that nurture rhythm, language and a love for nature.

Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Komal Toor

Hi, I'm Komal. I'm the nursery manager at The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School. I have worked in childcare for 19 years, starting with a college qualification inspired by my Year 10 work experience. I began as a nursery nurse and progressed to nursery manager through various roles.

Early years education is my passion, and I'm committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where children thrive. I enjoy working with families to support development and leading a dedicated team to provide high-quality experiences that give children the best start in life.

My son has thrived at Old Windsor Day Nursery. His communication and social skills have bloomed during his time at the nursery. The staff are all lovely, and my son loves to be there. The only negative is the price. OWD Nursery is quite a bit more expensive than other nurseries nearby. Amazing nursery, would be perfect if just slightly cheaper.

The nursery has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with genuinely caring staff. Our son is happy there and is developing well. I am very satisfied with the nursery. My daughter is 15 months old, and since has started the nursery, I have seen lots of improvement in her development. She is full-time and the staff is taking care of her and she is very happy when i pick her up. Every morning, she looks forward to going to nursery. The nursery is very clean and providing variety of food. I really recommend it as a nursery.

Lovely nursery, we are very happy with the level of care that our daughter receives. Lovely staff updates throughout the day. If she has a hard day, we are informed, so we make it better the next day. We are informed of what food she's eaten and what activities she's done that day. She's changed when dirty and never had an issue with dirty clothing etc. Well-kept nursery, plenty of space. Always seems happy when I pick her up.

My daughter started with the team at Little Garden The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School when she was just 11 months old, and we are so happy with her care and development that we have already registered and enrolled our son for May 2026. Our daughter can't get to nursery quickly enough each day. She loves her peers, carers and daily activities. Her language, communication and physical development have been incredibly nurtured. We have been hugely supported when a family emergency arose last year, and I will be forever grateful for the wrap-around care we received. A wonderful place for children and infants to develop and grow.

Our child has been at the Little Garden The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School for 7 months now. They were brilliant when it came to settling in and really flexible, as our child took a little while to settle in. The updates on the app are a great way to see what our child is doing throughout the day. The outdoor space is great, and Music Melody every week is a wonderful way of providing a musical activity for the children. We're very happy with the nursery and the level of care that our child is receiving.

My daughter started at this nursery around 10 months of age when my maternity leave ended. We have watched her thrive attending 3 days a week. She has made friends and has lovely bonds with staff members. She is always happy to attend and I drop her off knowing she is in safe hands and will have a great day playing and learning with her friends. Staff are very approachable and kind. I'm so pleased with our choice of nursery, even though it was the furthest distance from home and the most expensive that we viewed I feel it is definitely worth the money for the benefits it provides my daughter and our care needs as a family

Review of The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School

Our little boy has been at the nursery since he was 13 months old and is now 2 1/2. Our overall experience has been absolutely great with particular credit going to all the staff who always show enthusiasm, are super friendly, and most importantly show genuine care for our little boy. Our son enjoys himself so much, that he often doesn't want to come home and I have seen him flourish in all sorts of ways, learning new things, communicating strongly, and making bonds with other children and key staff members. Management and specifically, overall communication between the nursery and parents is also good and is an area I have seen get even better in the last 6 months or so with the manager at the help. Overall a great experience and would recommend it.

I have sent both of my children to The Old Windsor Nursery and Pre-School from under 1 year old right through to leaving for school and I have been delighted with the experience. My children have thrived, been exceptionally well looked after at every stage and see the carers as part of their family. The nursery has exceptional facilities, a brilliant chef and carers who genuinely care and know the children. I couldn't recommend more and I will be very sad when my daughter leaves and the journey of over.

Review of The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School

I have two children here - a 3-year-old and a 9-month-old (due to start in July). Our son just loves it here - it's an incredibly positive space, with a really balanced approach across the board. Varied activities for stimulation (our son loves the French lessons!) and a really generous outdoor space. Lots of friendships made with the social interaction being invaluable to their learning. Logistics-wise - dropoff and pick-ups are easy as the car park is generous, I know this is problematic at other daycares. The management team and staff have a really strong dynamic, feels like a safe pair of hands in all rooms and an approach that isn't just 'babysitting'. Thoroughly recommend here, and applaud the current team for creating such a great place during such an important period of their little lives.

Review of The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School

Being new to the nursery, I cannot fault it. The staff go above and beyond to make sure not only the children feel okay, but that you, the parent, are reassured in every step of this journey. My daughter is really enjoying her time there, so much so, she cries when we pick her up! The meals made are all fresh and tailored to your child at whatever point they are in their feeding stage. The app they have is fantastic, it notifies you of what they've had to eat and how much, when they've slept and how long and their nappy changes. I cannot recommend this nursery enough, we are very pleased and feel a massive weight off my shoulders that I chose the right nursery for my daughter.

Our experience has been nothing but great since we miraculously found a space in Little Garden at incredibly short notice! Everyone here is so professional, caring, accommodating and enthusiastic! We love our key workers and all the staff looking after our little one. We love that there are so many different activities and learning opportunities on offer. Our little boy joined The Old Windsor nursery in April this year. He has settled in brilliantly thanks to all the staff and he absolutely loves his mornings at nursery. He also recently moved up to the older class with no problems at all. All the staff at the nursery make transitions and changes gradual and stress-free. I am so glad we chose this nursery, we will be sad when he has to leave to start school, but we can't thank the team enough for giving him such a great start to his learning and educational journey. Both our children have been to Old Windsor Day Nursery and we had no hesitation in enrolling our daughter after our son's experience. The staff are caring and attentive and communicate consistently and well with us as parents. Many of them live locally and are always happy to say hello and have a chat if we bump into them outside of working hours. The food is very good and has recently been improved with the addition of a new chef who seems very adept at getting the children to try a wide range of options which has helped us immensely spans their horizons at home as well. The rooms are clean with a good range of equipment and the garden is a lovely space which they all seem to enjoy.

I have been really pleased with The Old Windsor Day Nursery, they have really helped my daughter boost her confidence and turn her into the little madam that she is. She really enjoys her days there and talks about them in such excitement. I am really pleased I chose this nursery for my daughter, it was highly recommended by several people and I have also recommended it further to friends and family. The staff are absolutely wonderful and very supportive. The only one small concern I have is previously they used to give out daily sheets with a food log and now everything is on an app. The app is a great idea and is easy to use, however, it does not clearly state what she has eaten throughout the day. The manual sheets were more in-depth and they helped with understanding her likes and dislikes too. Children can be very fussy eaters so with the actual food log it would help me create new and different dishes. Apart from this, the nursery is absolutely fantastic!

We are so lucky to have such a great Nursery/Preschool here in Old Windsor. Our little boy has been going since summer last year and he really enjoys it. The staff are all lovely and always take the time to give us a little update and answer any questions. Our little one has grown in confidence since attending, he particularly enjoys his French lessons and playing outdoors. They also take great care and accommodate for our sons food intolerances. I have been super impressed with the Old Windsor day nursery since my little boy started there in 2017 at 8 months old, he is now at school and attended the nursery for 4 years the staff really helped him settle into the nursery quickly and the change that me and my partner saw in him was amazing! He became more sociable and you could definitely notice a massive change in his development. He was also so happy going into the nursery in the mornings. The staff are so friendly and really do support you and guide you. I also have a 2-year-old daughter who attends the nursery and me and my partner were both very anxious when she started as we were still in lockdown. We were unsure how she would be but she really impressed us and took to the staff so quickly and settled in well. She has come on so well in the last year with her speech and has not long moved rooms and the staff were amazing with the transition and the communication is excellent from all the staff We are happy that we chose this nursery.

This is hands down the best nursery in the area. The staff are all fantastic and have a natural flair with all the babies and children. I removed my son from another nursery and can say this is worlds apart. All the staff work tirelessly to ensure excellent care is given to not only the children but also parents. No question is too big or small and they go above and beyond on a daily basis. My son has been attending since he was a baby and happily skips into the nursery now. We are really pleased with The Old Windsor Day Nursery. Our little one has been there for over a year now, started in Baby Nest and is now in Little Explorers. She absolutely loves it there and all of the staff. They have been so wonderful. She was diagnosed with a hearing impairment last year and the provision they put in place immediately was very good. Her hearing teacher was also impressed with the language-rich environment.

My little girl started at The Old Windsor Day Nursery almost a month ago in the baby nest group. I must say the transition has been incredibly smooth and I really take my hat off to the staff as playing a critical role in making the experience what it’s been so far. The staff are confident and so natural with the babies that it really puts you at ease. Their approach is personalised as they make efforts to understand your baby’s individual needs which for me was really important. I’ve loved receiving the daily summaries and updates via the app which give me sparks of joy and also makes me feel like we’re working well as a team. Review of The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School

The Old Windsor nursery is a fantastic enviroment for children to grow and learn. My little one has been there for nearly 3 years and absolutely loves it. His transition throughout nursery has been easy and he has grown and learnt so much whilst being there. I was amazed when he came home telling me all the planets he had been learning all about, something I wasn't expecting him to be learning about but amazed at the knowledge he had retained and enjoyment he had learning about it. He gets on so well with all of the staff and his friends in his room. If there is ever a concern the team are really approachable and deal with it very quickly. In particular, potty training took us a while to get through but they were all really patient despite multiple accidents. They even used his sticker reward chart I had created. Overall, the nursery is a really loving and caring environment which is exactly where you want you child to be.

I cannot speak highly enough of Poppies Day Nursery Old Windsor. The team have been so wonderful and welcoming. Each member of staff we have met has always taken the time to answer any questions or concerns we may have. Our son is happy to go in and happy when he comes out and I'm not sure we could ask for much else. At any time we feel we can approach the staff and they will help in any way they can. Our son has been hit and miss with food lately and all the staff have been so reassuring and the wonderful onsite chef has made extra provisions to ensure he is fed. We are very grateful to have found this gem of a nursery.

Poppies Day Nursery Old Windsor is an amazing nursery. I had my girls there for 5 years. I always felt that I could go to work and focus on my job, knowing that they were cared for and happy. Never had any problem or worries. They always had a great time, always came home happy to be with their teachers and friends. We have only just left Poppies as my daughter started school. I can’t speak highly enough about Poppies. From my daughter starting during the pandemic, she has been in the best of hands. The staff are friendly and caring, and we love the communication via their new app, as well as lots of artwork to take home. I have absolutely no concerns about her safety or stimulation there, with themed activities and weeks. I also love that they always do garden time. The food always smells delicious, and with the recent new owners, changes made seem to be super positive with new equipment. She skips off to nursery in the morning and absolutely loves it. I feel so confident in it being the best place for her while we are at work.

Great staff. Always friendly and attentive towards the children. Never had any issues and would highly recommend it. Only hesitancy is that since the menu change, the food choice has become more varied and sometimes means that our child comes home and has to have a further meal due to the fact they haven't eaten much in-house.

My daughter has attended Poppies in Old Windsor for 2.5 years, I'm writing this review as she nears the end of her journey at nursery, next stop school. Poppies have consistently provided an outstanding level of care for her. She has absolutely loved attending the nursery, and that is down to the excellent staff, every one of them are stars, one particular team member was wonderful and my daughter adored her in the Little room, and the girls in the preschool team do a fabulous job preparing the children for school. The outside space was a huge draw for me when choosing a nursery, and Poppies is wonderful. My daughter is a vegetarian and the excellent chefs have always catered for her. Thank you team for all you have done for my daughter, we will miss you.

Me and my husband are extremely pleased with Poppies Day Nursery Old Windsor. We have had both our children (youngest still there) at Poppies from about 6 months old. The team is amazing and feels like a second home for my kids, they love going and talk about the staff at home or do role play that they are at nursery with the staff. Over the last 5 years, things have changed but this has never affected the kids and I feel that the staff goes more than the extra mile. Big well done to the full team!

My husband and I are extremely happy with Poppies and how the team care for our twin girls. Since they joined the baby nest at 12 months old the team have been fantastic. A lovely caring, nurturing and progressive nursery with lots of fantastic outdoor space and a balanced menu.

Review of The Old Windsor Day Nursery & Pre-School

Our son only recently joined Poppies after moving to the area. We were really worried as he loved his old nursery but I can’t say enough good things about how welcoming they’ve been to him. He’s settled right in and is thriving. The level of professionalism and care all the staff take is exemplary and he comes out laughing every evening. All the staff takes the time to give you a full day report as well as one you take home with you and they also have a great portal where they load up pictures and videos and encourage the parents to contribute. He seems to have learnt things every day he comes home and always has a painting or some form of crafts with him.
