The Carshalton Day Nursery and Pre-School is an OFSTED GOOD (2024) nursery in Carshalton, at Grove Hall on Grove Park. Our nursery welcomes children from birth to 5 years into an inspiring open-plan setting surrounded by parkland, with strong safeguarding and nurturing care that helps every child feel secure and engaged. We consult parents regularly to meet every individual need with warmth and precision.
Our unique open-plan units with connecting panels spark creative interaction across age groups, fostering natural curiosity and friendship. Our close-knit community makes the most of our park location with enriching nature walks and discoveries.
Our expansive garden delights children with opportunities for gardening, gross motor challenges and their favourite mud kitchen play, complemented by our dedicated baby garden designed for all-weather exploration and peaceful outdoor sleeps.

Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Fae Coleman

Hi, I'm Fae. I'm the nursery manager at The Carshalton Day Nursery and Pre-School. With 12 years in childcare, starting as a volunteer and advancing through various settings including Montessori, I am deeply committed to nurturing young minds.

I am passionate about impactful early education and support both children and fellow practitioners in their growth. As a family person with a love for travel and literature, I'm eager to collaborate with our community to foster a positive environment for everyone involved.

Our daughter has been attending since she was 5 months old. From the very beginning, the settling-in process was gentle and very supportive, which made such a difference to us as first-time parents. The staff are warm, caring, and genuinely invested in each child's wellbeing and development. They've also been incredibly helpful with key milestones including weaning, and offering guidance and reassurance along the way. It's been amazing to see how much our daughter has grown in confidence and personality since starting. She is always happy when we drop her off, which says everything about the environment they've created. The nursery also has a lovely garden space. Communication is excellent - we're kept informed about her day, her progress, and all the little moments that matter. The overall atmosphere feels relaxed, supportive, and genuinely caring. We feel so lucky that our daughter attends this nursery & wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The staff here are excellent. Always welcoming to our little one and my child loves it there. The range of activities they get up to vary and there's lots of outdoor play. The food choices are excellent which my little one very much enjoys.

My child has been attending this nursery for a year and a half now. Everyone at the nursery is very welcoming and the children all seem so happy. I often see the staff singing and reading books to the children who are all very engaged. I am given continual updates of my child and their activities throughout the day. Important details such as naps, food intake and development milestones are tracked closely. Cannot recommend this nursery enough to other parents!

Review of The Carshalton Day Nursery & Pre-School

Our daughter has been at the nursery for a year and a half and has really thrived. Her vocabulary and ability to form sentences is fantastic and has been developed through the good relationships and interactions with nursery staff and the well planned curriculum delivered. We have enjoyed seeing the weekly activity plan and learning reflections to help us keep track of what she's doing. The staff really care about the children and what they are learning. Each day she comes home telling us about the books she's read and activities she's completed and most importantly, is always happy. She has developed a love for arts and crafts which she does each day using different mediums and we have enjoyed seeing her complete these via the regular pictures and observations her keyworker makes on the learning journey app. She also loves the music and cooking classes. Communication from the nursery is excellent and the chef has been great at catering the menu to her dietary needs (GF milk free).

Our three year old and one year old both started early this year. We were very impressed by the amount of settling in sessions offered, which helped the children settle quicker. Their key workers have been great and they always seem to have done such exciting things at nursery - a bubble party for the babies, and baking have been particular highlights. Thank you to the manager and your wonderful team! It makes such a difference knowing we're learning the children in such capable and fun hands.

We and most importantly our daughter loves it here. She has thrived since joining at 1 years old. She loves all the staff and can't wait to get in on the days she goes! We're always kept up to date and she has allergies which are well managed and never had any issues with meals etc. We couldn't ask for more!

Our son has been attending Carshalton Day Nursery for the past almost two months, he has settled almost instantly, he asks to go every morning and we are extremely happy with the standard of care and activities they provide him with. It is so nice to see how much he enjoys going there and we feel very comforted as to how well cared for he is there. The communication with the staff is excellent and they are all very caring individuals who strive to bring out the best in the children who attend.

Carshalton Day Nursery have been the most amazing nursery for our child. They include us in all daily activities and meals and our child leaves happy every day. There is nothing they haven't thought of when it comes to the safety of our child and the growth we have seen in her in the last year has been amazing. Putting my 2 year old son into nursery was an emotional rollercoaster for me. This was the first time I had to trust people I didn't know to care for my baby. I made the right decision choosing The Carshalton Day Nursery. From the settling-in sessions to now I have had constant communication, help and additional resources to help us along the way. I love the app used to inform us on what's happened in the day and to show my son's learning journey. Didn't think I'd get there but I'm super excited to even send my 8 month old soon. Lovely staff all around amazing Team!

I am very pleased with my grandson's nursery. He's come so far this year since last year and the care that is given is amazing. The staff are absolutely beautiful people and the manager is great, such a lovely woman. I love how she takes care of my grandson and the bond that she has with all the children is amazing. The nursery is very clean, they have so much to learn and play with and all the activities that the manager arranges as well. He enjoys the snacks and meals and I would recommend it to other people.

Review of The Carshalton Day Nursery & Pre-School

Managed to see my little boy take his first independent steps when picking him up from nursery. Really put this down to the great set-up the nursery has mixing the smaller children with the older ones (separated by a little fenced area). It was one of the reasons why we chose Little Garden over some of the larger ones which felt too sectioned off. Seeing and learning from older children has really helped our little one develop with confidence. The staff are all fantastic and constantly encourage the children to have fun while learning. Would highly recommend it, especially for children with no older siblings to learn from. A great nursery with a lovely set-up, very pleased we chose Little Garden.

I can honestly say that this nursery has been amazing in so many ways. The confidence and pride my child has had since attending has grown so much. He is always talking about how much he loves his nursery and teachers. He has made an amazing little friendship group. We were told by his school his writing was very good for his age and I credit the hard work of the teachers. If I could I'd send him here forever. The best place and people created a lovely community.

Me and my husband had an absolutely great experience in the nursery. The staff are so approachable, helpful and caring. Our daughter had difficulties at the beginning and the help we received was absolutely professional and we couldn't have asked for more. The result was that our child woke up every morning and asked when we could go to school she couldn't wait. In all the activities, learning and games we saw great progress. Our son loves going to preschool each day. It is his favourite place to be. The teachers are wise, caring and great role models. Our son loves playing in the garden and the wide range of activities from the reading corner to the fit-and-fun sessions. The preschool provides incredibly important and valuable life skills in helping children to socialise and be ready for primary school. This is all done in a natural and age-appropriate way. Our son asks to go to nursery every day and for us that speaks volumes about the brilliant experience at the preschool.

My daughter started at Little Garden The Carshalton Day Nursery in September. It was her first time being by herself and I was extremely apprehensive about leaving her. However, once we both visited the nursery I knew she would love it! Her settling sessions went beautifully and I was reassured that she will be ok! Of course, with a two-year-old not everything is smooth sailing and once the settling sessions ended she had a couple of days where she was unhappy being left at nursery. I was pre-warned by the staff that this could happen so although I wasn’t expecting it, I had been prepared about this! The staff were very honest and open with me which is so important for me. They even took the time to phone me to reassure me that my 2-year-old was absolutely fine once I dropped her! Overall we absolutely love the nursery and I can see how much my toddler is thriving! Thank you.

Second year into preschool for my daughter now and I’m as pleased with it as I was at the beginning. I couldn’t have chosen a better place for her and I’m so happy I chose Carshalton Day Nursery and Pre-School. I genuinely cannot speak highly enough of everyone and everything here and the fact that my daughter cannot wait to leave in the mornings to go back, speaks volumes! Knowing that she is loved and cared for out of home is all you can ask for and I would recommend it to anyone. Will be a sad day when we have to leave you!

My child started the nursery in September 2022, this is our 2nd year. We love this nursery preschool. The setting of the nursery is amazing. The staff is very caring, nothing is too much to ask. We are always kept aware of activities the children do. My child is learning new things every day, language has progressed a lot over the year, and social skills and confidence. The nursery is always bringing in new toys and activities. I am very happy that the nursery decided to work extended hours for other parents in need. Thank you!

My daughter is coming to the end of her first year at The Carshalton Day Nursery and what a difference we have seen, she has blossomed beautifully during her time there so far, she is excited to share her days with us, loves looking through the regular photo updates with me and remembering what she did that day, her speech, social skills and understanding has all improved massively. From first setting foot in the nursery, when searching for a placement, I knew I wanted my son to attend here. Since joining, the staff have been welcoming and supportive and I enjoy seeing through the app and hearing from my son all about his enjoyable days at nursery. His first day he didn't was to come home! His learning has really accelerated too, regarding his writing and numbers, and I feel this is down to the time the staff take with him. It really is a wonderful nursery. The children are happy and I've heard nothing negative from my son, only how much he loves his teachers and his nursery. Would 100% recommend.
