Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Shankeetha Kanesalingam

Hello, I'm Shankeetha. I joined The Beaconsfield Day Nursery & Pre-School in July 2024 as deputy manager and in May 2025 stepped into my current role as nursery manager. I have been working in childcare for over eight years and hold a BA in Early Years Education.

What I truly love about working in childcare is being part of each child's learning journey, from their very first steps into nursery life to developing the independence and confidence they will carry with them into school and beyond. Seeing children thrive, explore and grow brings me so much joy.

One of the things I love most about my job is working alongside such a passionate and dedicated team, as well as building strong partnerships with families. It is a real privilege to lead this nursery. What makes us so special is the caring community we have built, one where children are truly at the heart of everything we do.

Under the manager's leadership, the nursery became a fantastic environment for my eldest child. She's loved every minute and still talks about all her experiences. The staff, especially her key person, has made a lasting impression on her. I've even had to cook like the chef or the food will not be eaten at home! With its Good Ofsted rating recently, I am sure the nursery will continue to provide such a wonderful experience for other children. Thank you for everything you have done for our eldest. We look forward to seeing our little girl thrive with you in September 2025 when she joins the nursery family!

The management has built a fantastic curriculum (including French lessons and visiting a local care home) and the team are great with the children. Our daughter has recently joined and she loves it! She is excited to be dropped off and I can tell she is thoroughly enjoying herself! The staff are amazing, extremely caring and always provide a detailed review at the end of each day. There are lots of different activities each day which I can tell she loves as she is always exhausted and sleeps a lot better at night! As she is with older babies her skills are dramatically improving and my husband and I are noticing a huge difference! Thank you and we would highly recommend this nursery.

The moment we stepped through the door, it was evident that this nursery prioritises not only the well-being of the children in their care but also their holistic development. One of their standout features is their exceptional chef, who goes above and beyond to ensure that every meal is delicious and nutritionally balanced plus their ability to adapt the menu on the fly, catering to all dietary needs is inspiring. The manager's attentiveness and genuine care shines through in every interaction. They go above and beyond to ensure that every child feels valued and supported in their journey and my little one absolutley adores them. But the aspect that resonates with us most is the emphasis on outdoor exploration and adventure. Their outdoor space is perfect for children to engage in active play. It's heartening to see them incorporate outdoor activities into their daily routine, recognising the value of these experiences – qualities that are overlooked in today's digital age.

I couldn't be happier with a nursery for my son. As first-time parents, we wanted to make sure we had the right setting and went to lots. The manager was nothing but accomadating to all our requests and spent so much time answering all our questions and visits. She has a clear vision for the setting and it is truly an amazing place for our son to be where he is nurtured and educated. The manager's passion feeds through to the staff who have settled my son and loves going in every day. He comes home daily with new learning opportunities - from going to the park, on train rides, going to the old people's home and most recently an Easter Bonnet Parade, and has flourished in confidence. We really feel lucky to have found such a caring, outstanding 'home from home' setting where we know he is safe, happy and thrives. Thank you!

Just returned from a Family Fun Spring Play date with the family. I want to say how impressed I am with the nursery and how proud I am my grandchild has the opportunity to attend such a homely, well-run nursery with staff who care and nothing is too much trouble. The nursery manager is phenomenal, passionate, and friendly, which shows in the effort, organization, and turnout of the event.. nothing but positivity was heard all around from what was a well-attended event with over 100 there. The nursery is clean, well resourced and you can see how much the team takes a genuine interest. My grandchild loves going here and I can see why - I wish I could come to play every day!

My son absolutely loves this nursery! He settled in well, the staff were very caring and welcoming, he has formed strong bonds with lots of the staff here and lovely budding friendships with the children. He loves getting stuck in messy activities and the outdoor space, especially the mud garden. There’s so much extracurricular stuff going on too! Such as yoga, French, baking and they take weekly walks to the local community!

If you are considering a nursery for your little ones to attend this one is absolutely amazing. My little girl has been going for just over a year now. She has learnt so much her confidence is booming. She absolutely loves it there and all the staff. I wish I could name them but I wouldn't want to leave anyone out. She learns so much through play. Their activities are second to none they are doing different things every day. They have a huge lovely garden. She even cooks, paints, draws, and so much more. To the staff I want to thank you so much you truly are amazing. They even have an app to keep you up to date with what they have been doing through the day and what they have eaten. It's a great nursery.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at the nursery! We have always had a positive experience since our girls (2.5 and 14 months) started but since the new management took over last year, we’ve seen incredible growth in both our children. The manager is truly exceptional – ambitious, friendly, and has a clear vision for making the nursery outstanding. The staff are fantastic; they genuinely care about the children and make sure they feel loved and supported. There is constant communication through the app, keeping us updated on our girls’ activities and progress. They know the children well and identify the next steps in their development. The variety of outings and community involvement, from train rides to yoga and French lessons, to visits to the elderly people’s accommodation, shows their dedication to providing a well-rounded experience. We’re beyond impressed and wholeheartedly recommend this nursery to any parent looking for a nurturing and enriching environment.

My 4 year old daughter has been attending this nursery since 2021 and is now in pre-school. I can honestly say that I am thrilled with the exceptional care and attention my daughter receives at the nursery and she is a happier, independent little girl because of it. In the last 6 months, the newly appointed manager has made a positive impact, not only on the amazing staff but also the relationship with the parents. It's obvious that the whole team care about the children and love their job. The dedicated management and staff have created a nurturing environment, fostering my daughter's growth and development. This is a fantastic nursery; we have two children currently attending (baby room and pre-school), and they both love it here. We had a very bad experience at another nursery in Beaconsfield, and we were very apprehensive about moving. The lovely staff at this nursery gave us so much time to ask all the questions we had and to visit and spend time in the setting in order to feel comfortable. Since joining a few months ago, we've been so pleased to see that this dedication and professionalism have continued, and both we and our children are very happy with this nursery. The new manager is fantastic, she has organised some great activities for the children (grandparents are invited in every Friday to read with the children, they do weekly baking which our kids love, and they are about to start attending a local retirement home to do activities with the residents there, which we think is lovely). We are really happy here and would highly recommend!

When we first joined the nursery, I was nervous about my child settling in because he was moving from another nursery. The staff there were very supportive from the get-go and really prioritised reassuring me he has settled. Since that period of settling in he has formed an incredible bond with his key worker. We have seen him really develop new words and more confidence in himself. I cannot fault the nursery at all. Lovely and caring staff, with great facilities.

Our little boy changed nurseries in May 2022 and we were concerned about how he would settle into another nursery. However, we needn't have worried as the nursery and staff are fantastic and he settled in immediately. He is happy to run straight into nursery in the morning and is absolutely thriving since joining Kiddies. There is a huge focus on playing outside, which was very important to us and the development of the garden has been wonderful to see. His speech has developed greatly in the last couple of months, and the attention to providing activities to suit his interests has definitely played a part in this. Overall, we could not be happier with our choice to move our child to Kiddies Academy and we are so pleased with the progress he is making under their care.

My little boy (a few months shy of 2) loves nursery and is constantly parroting the names of his friends and key workers. There is a big focus on getting the children to play outside which we love and my son’s speech and confidence have grown and grown. There is a little park right outside the nursery where we have a short play after pick up and this is a great way to connect with all the other parents. Overall, we are really pleased with our nursery choice.

Moving my daughter here was by far the best move we could have made. Since starting at The Kiddies Academy she has flourished in every area. The team are amazing and so attentive to her needs. She has only been here since January and will soon sadly be leaving to go up to primary school, but the difference in her really is astounding. I couldn't be happier with Kiddies Academy. My 4-year-old has been attending the Nursery for a year and he absolutely enjoys it and I have seen positive changes in his behaviour. The manager and staff team in Preschool have really helped my little one to manage and understand his feelings. The staff members have gone above and beyond to help my little one with his behaviour. They have been very supportive. The Preschool room is very spacious and they have an amazing garden which my little one loves playing in. I am constantly amazed at the different activities they do with the children daily. My little one's key worker always updates me on how he has been doing and what things we can put in place at home as well as Nursery to help my little one further. I highly recommend Kiddies Academy!

Our son started at Kiddies Academy in the toddler room in 2019 and left in Aug 2021 to start school. The care he received from all the team during his time there has been exceptional. It is a very special nursery and such a nurturing and caring learning environment. Our son absolutely loved it there and thrived. When only children of key workers were allowed to attend nursery during the first lockdown, they were phenomenal. They ran a live Zoom session weekly where we did science experiments so the children could all see their friends and they asked us to send in weekly photos to include in a photo montage to keep them connected. Our son has severe food allergies; he was kept completely safe from his allergens during his time at Kiddies Academy and was able to participate fully in all of the activities, including cooking. They have the most rigorous protocols in place and the cook cooked delicious dairy and soya free meals daily. The manager and deputy are superb and we simply can’t recommend Kiddies Academy enough.

My daughter has been attending Kiddies Academy for the last 10 months. We were a little unsure, having spent the majority of the first 12 months in lockdown, how she would settle at nursery. We are pleased to say she has thrived at Kiddies Academy. I am always amazed at the different creative ways they find to keep the children entertained, exploring and trying new things every week. The food is such a diverse menu. One of the reasons we selected the nursery was due to its outside space and I love the fact that our daughter enjoys the outdoors so much when not at nursery. The staff are kind, patient and always welcoming and appreciate the pictures and comments they add to the parent app. Definitely recommend to friends.

I was full of worries before my little girl’s first day at nursery. I was nervous about how she would be without me, especially because of the pandemic but the staff at Kiddies Academy were amazing. I highly recommend Kiddies Academy. The staff were really patient settling my son in and he’s thrived in his time there. The food menu has changed recently and I’m really happy about the variety. They have different activities every day and I get a good handover from staff. I can’t recommend this nursery highly enough. My child is currently being assessed for specific learning difficulties, and the staff have been excellent in providing the extra support he needs. Kiddies Academy have been brilliant for both of my girls. We've had about 6 years of care between 2 girls and it's always been first class. There are plenty of educational and play activities and the staff are always looking to create a sensory, educational environment. My daughter joined in July 2020 and absolutely adores going to Kiddies Academy. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the building is a good size and spilt into different age groups, they have a lovely outdoor area, and the senior management is approachable and transparent. We were able to settle our daughter prior to her starting, and the staff made sure she got to know them, and they spent time understanding her likes/dislikes and personality. Staff and management regularly update us on our daughter's progress and work collaboratively with us to ensure she is maximising her potential. I would highly recommend Kiddies Academy, we are very pleased our daughter attends here and has thrived in terms of her confidence and development. I would highly recommend.

My grandson attends Kiddies Academy. When he started just before the age of one we were naturally apprehensive, as he would essentially be within this environment for the majority of his time, 8-6, Monday to Friday. This apprehension was met with the most wonderful team. Staff provides our grandson with a home from home feel. We are delighted with the love, and compassion that excels from the nursery. My son and daughter-in-law wanted a nursery that would love their little boy, and we really do feel that. Now that he is in Pre-School, I cannot believe the way he has grown, in part, due to the creative education that he experiences whilst he is at Kiddies. He tells us all about how to be kind. As well as the academic side of things, the nursery focuses on the fundamental parts of being a person. My favourite story from him was when he told us about a 'special nurse' who was a 'superhero' - later finding out he'd learnt about Florence Nightingale - how splendid.

My son has been attending Kiddies Academy for the last year after having been at a childminder for 2 years prior to that. While he did well at the childminders, he has thrived at Kiddies. The activities before the lockdown were absolutely amazing, from French lessons to cooking and baking to sports. The mud kitchen just fields the imagination. How they handled the situation during lockdown was inspiring, using Zoom to engage the students who couldn't make it in. My boy a lot of times didn't want to come home because he was having too much fun. His academic skills were already advanced, but Kiddies helped hone them. They also helped with development of his social skills. I have nothing but praise for the staff at Kiddies Academy.

My daughter attended Kiddies summer camp after our initial plans fell through because of COVID. Kiddies was recommended by another Mum in my daughter’s school. From the get-go Kiddies made the process of registering seamless. I was particularly impressed by how flexible they were. The camp has proved to be a revelation. My daughter has made lasagne, fruit bread, trifle and flapjacks. She has also learnt basic first aid, done a few science experiments and gardened too. The staff at Kiddies are warm and caring, and go out of their way to ensure the children have fun whilst learning. We will definitely be using them again. My daughter skips to camp in the morning which is the best recommendation as far as we are concerned.

When we moved from London, I was apprehensive about sending my son (then 2.5 years) to a new nursery when he was so settled in his previous one. But I had nothing to worry about as he settled quickly within a week and loves Kiddies. The outdoor space and initiative to keep them playing and learning outside are wonderful. They learn more than the Early Years curriculum, they learn to look after each other and about different cultures too. Before Covid-19, they would go to the supermarket, train station and park to explore the world around them. The staff are so attentive and thoughtful, they point out areas for development and praise all the achievements they see/hear on a daily basis. My daughter started at Kiddies at 13 months and was quite clingy but now happily leaves me to have her day of fun - listening to music, playing in the mud kitchen and painting! I recommend Kiddies to anyone I know that is looking for a nursery!

Our son has been attending Kiddies Academy for the past 2 years and we could not be more pleased with the nursery. Kiddies Academy offers a warm, caring and nurturing environment for children. The staff go above and beyond in every respect and the management are incredibly responsive. I once mentioned that it would be great for the kids to do some gardening and within a week they had incorporated an entire growing segment to the nursery. The pre-school space is second to none, a big, light-filled room with the free-flow for the children from inside to outside. My eldest son has now moved on to school but we are still able to use the wrap-around care at Kiddies as and when it is needed. They also have drop-in summer programmes which are great when you just need a couple of kid-free days. Overall we have been incredibly happy with this nursery and would recommend to anyone.

Before he started Kiddies, my son never wanted to leave me for childcare. His childminder was great but he still did not want to go. Now he's at Kiddies it's the complete opposite. He is raring to go most mornings and never wants to leave. I think they have been fantastic with encouragement and development of his skills and are always on hand for advice. Can't recommend them enough.

My two-year-old has been attending almost a year, she tells me frequently that nursery is the best place in the world. She comes home having had the best day ever, she will access activities that develop her life skills. The nursery provides exceptional opportunities that really make me feel like she is learning more than I could have envisaged. Very pleased. Would highly recommend having a look round.

Great staff and environment. My daughter has been attending since September 19 and she has settled in very well. Her mental development has been exceptional and so kudos to the staff including the owners who have made this place somewhere my daughter actually looks forward to coming. I would highly recommend this place to any parent.

Our son has been with Kiddies Academy since November 2019. We can't speak highly enough of our experiences with the nursery. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities, particularly the outside section, are fantastic. Our son settled in very quickly and we feel very confident dropping him off. The management team have communicated brilliantly in what has been a very uncertain time during the pandemic.

The Kiddies Academy is a fantastic nursery. My 20 month old absolutely loves it. He is happy to go every day. The settling sessions are flexible and the nursery works very closely with parents on an individual basis. There is a lot of focus on outdoor time, activities and good behaviour. The staff are lovely and very caring. Exceptionally clean and friendly place. Feels like family.

It has taken a while for my daughter to settle into nursery but the staff and management have all been so good with helping with the transition and giving me peace of mind too. It is a big thing leaving your child for the first time but I am confident she is in good hands at The Kiddies Academy and would highly recommend.

Review of The Beaconsfield Day Nursery & Pre-School

My daughter has been attending the nursery since she the age of 1 (she is 3 now). From the very beginning, everybody has been very welcoming and my daughter settled in very easily. She has created strong bonds with a lot of the staff members and everyone seemed to be very caring and warm towards her. Her key person was brilliant with her, I always received very detailed feedback each day so I did not have to worry if I could not attend parents evenings. Everything has been passed onto me each day. She also was very caring and understood all of my daughter's needs. The nursery has been redecorated recently and it has made a big change. Everything seems very tidy and organised, with ideas still to be implemented. My daughter has also been really fond of the food served by the nursery and on many occasions, having seconds for her meals and loving her snacks too. The garden area is very well organised with plenty of space for children to run around. Management is also very efficient.
