About Footsteps Nursery Fazeley
Footsteps Nursery Fazeley is an OFSTED GOOD (2023) nursery in Fazeley, located on Bonehill Mews off Watling Street. Set within a converted barn complex, our nursery provides a welcoming environment where children from birth to 5 years are supported to feel safe, valued and confident as they learn through play.
Each child is allocated a Key Person who acts as their main caregiver and primary point of contact, helping build a collaborative relationship between nursery and home. Our team has deep roots in early years care, with many practitioners having grown through apprenticeships within our setting.
Learning follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, with activities shaped around natural curiosity. All rooms are fully air-conditioned for year-round comfort.
Outdoor learning is supported through four distinct garden spaces, each offering different environments for exploration. Children benefit from onsite forest school facilities overlooking picturesque landscape, with opportunities to engage with the local community.
We promote close parent partnerships, keeping families informed and involved through regular communication.

Nutritional Approach
We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.
All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Meet Our Nursery Manager
Gemma Sharp
Hello, I'm Gemma. I joined Footsteps Nursery Fazeley in November 2014 as Nursery Manager. We are very fortunate at our nursery as we share our surroundings with a beautifully picturesque landscape and views of the Fazeley canal, and receive regular visits from the local wildlife.
I am Level 3 qualified in Childcare, and being a mother of three, I relate to and understand our families' requirements at nursery, always remembering the little extras that go a long way.
My passion is childcare and working alongside my team to continue developing our nursery in new and exciting ways. Our fantastic team build on the real-life environment we promote with the children, showing the true meaning of awe and wonder in their play, and supporting them to discover new skills each day in a safe, secure and encouraging environment.
We have a mixture of long-standing staff members, including myself being in the same nursery site since I was 16 years old, and 65% of the nursery has once been an apprentice and worked their way up to senior leadership positions. We have a culture of “growing your own” and supporting the childcare sector in new qualified practitioners.

Our Commitments
Our curriculum is built around five core commitments that guide how we nurture every child.

Our Curriculum
By developing confident communicators, resilient resolvers, and independent investigators, we nurture children who are imaginative in their thinking, inquisitive in their learning, and inspired to explore the world around them. Forest School provides children with rich, hands-on learning experiences in a natural environment, supporting their development in a holistic way.
Through regular outdoor sessions, children develop confidence, independence, and resilience as they explore, take appropriate risks, and solve problems. The natural environment encourages curiosity and creativity, allowing children to lead their own learning and follow their interests.
Forest School also supports physical development, as children climb, balance, and move in varied terrain, helping to build strength and coordination. It has a positive impact on emotional wellbeing, giving children space to relax, regulate their feelings, and develop a sense of calm.
In addition, it fosters a strong connection to nature, helping children to understand and respect the environment from an early age. These experiences support key areas of the early year’s curriculum, including communication and language, personal, social, and emotional development, and understanding the world.
