About CherryWood Nursery
CherryWood Nursery is an OFSTED GOOD (2021) nursery in Pirbright, providing nurturing care for children from three months to five years in a calm, well-planned setting. Children are cared for across baby, toddler and pre-school rooms, with our team focused on helping each child feel safe, known and confident as they grow.
Learning is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage and shaped around children’s interests. Experiences may include messy play, stories, early communication, creative activities and opportunities to build independence through everyday routines.
Outdoor play is a real strength here, with each room opening into its own outdoor area so children can move between indoor and outdoor play in a natural way. There may also be chances to explore an outdoor classroom, an edible garden and forest-school style sessions, supporting curiosity and active learning.
Indoors, children benefit from an engaging environment, offering space for movement as well as calmer moments. Families are supported through open communication, and there may be opportunities to join in through visits or stay and play sessions.
Could CherryWood Nursery be the right Pirbright nursery for your child? Book a tour today and experience the setting for yourself.

Nutritional Approach
We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.
All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Meet Our Nursery Manager
Aimee Wheeler
I have worked in Early Years education for 10 years, and it is truly my passion. I feel privileged to be part of each child’s unique journey, watching them learn, grow, and develop, and helping to make their first five years fun, meaningful, and memorable.
I have spent my entire childcare career with Cherry Childcare, progressing from an unqualified Nursery Nurse to Manager of Cherrywood Nursery. Throughout this journey, I have gained a broad range of experience across different roles and levels of responsibility, which has shaped my leadership style and deepened my understanding of high-quality early years provision.
I am deeply committed to supporting both children and my team. I believe that when practitioners feel confident, valued, and knowledgeable, they are better equipped to provide outstanding care and education. I strive to create a supportive environment where my team can grow professionally, reflect on their practice, and continuously develop their skills so that, together, we can give every child and their family the very best start in life.
During my time as SENCO, I worked closely with children and families to ensure individual needs were fully understood and supported. I am passionate about inclusion and about tuning into each child as an individual, ensuring they have the right tools, strategies, and support to succeed and thrive.
As a Manager, I lead with a child-centred approach. Children are always at the heart of every decision I make. My primary responsibility is to ensure that all practice prioritises child safety, emotional wellbeing, developmental appropriateness, and inclusive values. I believe strong leadership in Early Years means setting high standards, modelling positive relationships, and fostering a culture where children, families, and staff all feel safe, respected, supported, and valued.

Our Commitments
Our curriculum is built around five core commitments that guide how we nurture every child.

Our Curriculum
At Cherrywood, we listen to our children and parents, using their ideas, interests and fascinations to develop a range of activities where all children are inspired to learn. Our curriculum is built on three pillars: confident communicators, sense of belonging and independent investigators.
Children learn to express their wants and desires, use language to communicate and know they have a voice and a choice. They feel confident to share their thoughts and feelings, build genuine and nurturing relationships, and understand that everyone is unique and different. We celebrate children's achievements, give them opportunities to experience everything the world has to offer and help them grow as resilient learners.
Our aim is to make learning fun and enjoyable through active learning and purposeful play, giving children the chance to explore, investigate, discover and learn at their own pace.
