About Acre Wood Day Nursery

At Acre Wood Day Nursery we pride ourselves on having welcoming rooms and nursery practitioners, who ensure your child’s individual needs are met and their interests nurtured.
The nursery offers quality childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old, where children have the opportunity to explore and expand their natural curiosity and learn through play.
We love the great outdoors, and our nursery features open spaces for our children to enjoy.
Our nursery has a wonderful team of quality early years practitioners, with a wealth of experience and knowledge, who are dedicated to working in childcare. We promote parent partnerships and provide updates and photos about your child’s routine and activities.

Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Chloe Smith

Hey there, I'm Chloe. I joined Acre Wood Day Nursery in January 2024, but I've been working in childcare since August 2016. Over the years, I've been lucky enough to support lots of children and families, and it's a job I truly love.

Working in childcare is so special to me because every day is different. I get to build strong relationships with families, watch children grow and achieve amazing things, and be part of those little moments that really matter.

The best part of my job is that it feels like one big family. We all support each other and share the same passion for giving children the very best start in life. Acre Wood is such a special place, with its warm, homely feel, an incredible team who genuinely care for one another, and wonderful families, all in a lovely location that makes it feel like a home from home.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum supports children step by step, helping them become respectful, resilient and ready to learn. We begin with secure attachments, routines and communication in our youngest rooms, then gradually build independence, emotional understanding and social skills as children grow.

Across the nursery, children are encouraged to manage emotions, work collaboratively, respect others and take responsibility for themselves and their environment. Our approach is practical, nurturing and tailored to each age stage, ensuring children feel confident and well prepared for their next steps.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I'm kept updated daily on how my child has been, which is really reassuring. There are always lots of activities for the children to enjoy each day, and parents are invited to many events throughout the year, which makes it feel very inclusive and family-oriented.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

The staff at Acre Wood Day Nursery are truly wonderful. Both of my children attended, including my eldest who has additional needs, and the care they showed was exceptional. They who've always been patient, supportive, and genuinely kind, taking the time to understand and meet each child's individual needs. I've always felt reassured knowing my children are in such a caring and nurturing environment. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

My daughter has been here since February 2025 and my son was here for nearly 2.5 years. During that time the nursery joined the Family First group and had a change of management and a lot of staff turnover. It was a bit of a turbulent time but it has been so worth it - the changes are clearly visible and I'm sure there are many more that are less visible but are clearly in the happiness and progress my children have made. My son loved his time here and my daughter has settled in so quickly. The team are so kind and really make the effort to get to know each child. Her observations feel personal and reflective of her personality, they understand her preferences and communicate so well with her even though she's only just started to talk. The space they have is great. I love that we can go in and see her in her room at pick up, and I always get a thorough handover. As a parent I feel so happy dropping her off with any team member, and I always feel able to ask questions with confidence.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

My 2 year old has been attending Acre Wood since he was 8 months old and absolutely loves it. He's so at ease there that he has to be reminded to say goodbye at drop-off! The communication via the app is great and I really enjoy the photo updates of what activities he's been doing during the day. He's learnt so much from the staff there including being able to sign and more independent activities such as scraping his plate after dinner. I've also noticed some really nice changes to the nursery itself since the change in management and it feels like such a welcoming, homey place that caters to the parents/guardians as well as the children. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Acre Wood to anyone.

Acre Wood Arlesey have been incredible with our little boy since he started at nursery. The team are really professional and most importantly really care for the children. The personal touch that they have applied have made our son really feel at home and helped his development. We love the updates we get on his progress and it's lovely to see how happy and well cared for he is. We'd happily recommend this nursery to anyone. Great experience all round.

We've had such a lovely experience at this nursery! The Team are warm, welcoming and genuinely care for the children. My Step Daughter is always happy to go in and comes home full of stories and smiles. Its such a comforting feeling knowing shes safe, having fun and being well looked after. Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

Acrewood Day Nursery has been amazing for my 2 year-old daughter. From the very first day, the staff have been so warm and welcoming, and it really feels like they treat every child as part of a big family. My little one settled in so quickly, and now she runs in without even looking back! She's constantly coming home with new words, songs, and stories about her day, which makes me so happy. She absolutely loves the outdoor play area and all the messy activities (even if it means extra washing for me!). The staff always keep me updated, and I love seeing pictures on the app they have. It's such a comfort knowing she's in a place where she's happy while I work. I couldn't have asked for a better nursery.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

My 18-month-old has been going to Acrewood Day Nursery for a little while now, and we honestly love it! The staff are so kind and caring, and they really make an effort to help the little ones feel at home. I was a bit nervous at first, but she settled in so quickly, and now she gets excited when we arrive in the mornings! The place is clean, safe, and full of fun things for all to do. She especially loves the messy play and outdoor time! The staff also send little updates and photos, which I really appreciate-it's so nice to see what she's been up to during the day and a piece of mind. It's such a relief knowing she's happy, well looked after, and having fun while I'm not there. Would definitely recommend Acrewood to any parent looking for a lovely, welcoming nursery!

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

I just wanted to share how happy I am with Acrewood. My daughter absolutely loves it there! The staff is super friendly and really make it feel like a second home for the children. They have fun activities that keep her engaged, and I love seeing her come home excited about what she learned. Communication is great too; they always let me know how her day went and what she's been up to. It's such a relief to know she's in a safe and caring environment. I highly recommend Acrewood to any parents looking for a lovely place for their little ones!

I've noticed wonderful improvements at Arcewood Nursery over the past six months. The new management has made a significant positive impact. The staff are very attentive and organized, creating a nurturing environment for the children. My child comes home happier every day, which speaks volumes about the positive changes. My daughter has been with Acre Wood since 8 months old and she's loved it from the start. The staff are amazing and have helped her with the additional support she required for walking, often going above and beyond. She's happy every day she comes home and we get regular updates on her activities throughout the day. It's a brilliant setting and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

Since our little one started at Acre Wood Day Nursery he has thrived and settled in so well. The staff are so lovely and you can see they genuinely care so much about their development. We love the site of the nursery, being that bit smaller compared to some. It's great to see them all so happy and friendly. I love dropping him off for breakfast, looks like carnage but the best kind!

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

This nursery has improved tenfold since the new management took over. We chose this nursery simply because it is the only nursery that can offer us the hours we need. Under the old management, I absolutely dreaded sending my child in every day and was trying to move them. Any concerns I had were met by an extremely unhelpful manager (now long gone) with a visibly unhappy team. Since the new team/manager came on board my child has come on leaps and bounds. My child loves going in, the team are great at keeping us updated and the facilities have really improved too. We now feel happy sending our child in every day knowing they are in great hands.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

Our son has been at Acrewood since April 2022. Over the past two years there has been a change in management and many staff. Whilst the nursery at the time was adequate and our son was happy, since the new manager took over the nursery is a different place. It welcomes parents to come inside, talk with staff and see the children in their environment. It is warm and welcoming. The displays are well kept and, despite the building being a little dated, they make the most of the facilities. The activities our son does are engaging, educational and stimulating. He has formed excellent relationships with all staff and children. We are very happy with his care and feel he is very safe whilst there. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work and efforts. Couldn't recommend it highly enough to anyone reading this review.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

Can't fault the nursery at all, friendly, helpful staff with good facilities and a variety of activities to keep the children occupied. Would highly recommend as I get nothing but smiles every time I do the pick-up and very informative of everything they've been up to in the day, how they've done, what they've eaten or not eaten! Any little bumps and an app to keep track of things too, great establishment.

Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

We are so pleased that Acre Wood was our choice for our little one. She has absolutely thrived since joining last year. She waves goodbye to us at the door now with no looking back which is the biggest reassurance for us. We love the updates and observations we get and it’s great to see that the staff support communication through the use of sign language - we have to keep up with how much she knows! Review of Acre Wood Day Nursery

My son has been here since he was six months old, and I cannot fault the care he has received since being there. The staff are very friendly and excellent at communicating if anything has happened or is of interest. (And send me cute photos from time to time!) It has always been so nice knowing he was in great hands! The facilities are nice, with actual grass outside and plenty for kids to get into. Management is present and involved, as well as quick at communication. If it wasn't for us moving, he would have stayed here! Will miss the team here.
