Nutritional Approach
We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.
All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Meet Our Nursery Manager
Guy Hanscombe
Welcome to Woodlands,
I have been working in early years since 1998 and have been in a senior role since 2000. During this time I have worked in different sectors of early years and obtained my level seven. I joined Woodlands in September 2022, supporting staff, parents and children through the acquisition, to become part of Family First.
Early years is my passion; I have a pedagogical approach and know the importance of learning through play. I am a strong believer in sustained shared thinking which is the overarching influence of our curriculum.
The wellbeing of, and supporting my team is paramount (happy team, happy children, happy parents). I enjoy developing the unique spaces available to ensure that the children will thrive, feeling safe and secure, allowing them to be emotionally settled, to be free to learn, play, and develop at their own pace in a cohesive environment.

Our Commitments

Our Curriculum
We deliver a well-sequenced and ambitious curriculum that enables children to build on what they know and can do. We link meaningful learning to children's interests, extending conversations to sustain children’s interests and introduce new concepts.
This approach deepens children's understanding of the natural world, supports memory retention and encourages curiosity through connected learning experiences.
