Hucknall Day Nursery, rated Good by Ofsted, offers high-quality childcare and early education in a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, valued and supported to thrive. Our experienced and caring team builds strong relationships with children and families, helping every child grow in confidence and independence.
Conveniently located just off Nottingham Road, opposite The Bowman, the nursery is easily accessible for local families, with on-site parking and excellent tram and bus connections.
Our spacious nursery features warm, age-appropriate rooms and fantastic outdoor spaces, providing children with engaging opportunities to learn, explore and play every day.
We follow our bespoke PERCH curriculum, centred on Perseverance, Engagement, Responsibility, Communication and Helpfulness, helping children develop the skills and confidence needed for their next steps.
Funded childcare places are available for eligible families. We welcome families to visit and discover our calm, homely nursery where children learn, grow and flourish.

Meet Our Nursery Manager

Jodie Price

Hello, I am Kym and I have been part of Hucknall Day Nursery since 2003. I began my childcare journey as an apprentice, completing my Level 2 qualification before progressing to Level 3 and, later, achieving my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting so many children and families during some of the most important years of a child’s life. I love watching children grow in confidence, develop new skills, and discover the world around them. Being a part of those early years and helping children thrive is what makes my role so rewarding.

Having lived in Hucknall for many years, I am incredibly proud to work in a nursery that plays such an important role within the local community.

We have built strong relationships with generations of families, and I am passionate about creating a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, happy, and valued every day.

My door is always open for a chat, whether you would like to discuss your child’s development, share feedback, or simply get to know us better.

Our Curriculum

At Hucknall Day Nursery, we believe that the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provides a solid foundation for children to become lifelong learners. We are passionate that all children reach their full, unique potential alongside their peers. Our aim is to equip children with their own ‘essential toolkit’, so that whenever they leave us, they are ready for their next stage of education. We make our children feel safe and secure enabling a positive and confident attitude to learning. We see our nursery as an extension of your family and want to give children a welcoming, caring, nurturing environment in which to grow and learn. We see every child as in individual and underpin the fundamental British Values into all aspects of our play.

Review of Hucknall Day Nursery

I can't speak highly enough of Hucknall Day Nursery. My eldest daughter started in 2021 and from the minute she started we were welcomed into the HDN family. My youngest daughter is now there and we are delighted to be experiencing it all over again. Every single member of staff is so lovely and caring, we trust them completely and have always felt safe leaving our girls with them. Staff members always speak even when just passing by and always make time to have a chat at handover. My daughters always have a great time and love going to nursery. They both came on leaps and bounds with their development since starting at HDN. There is plenty of time in the large outdoor space which was important for us. Inside there seems lots of different activities. The food is home cooked, well thought out and sounds delicious! Sending our girls to Hucknall Day Nursery was one of the best decisions we've ever made for them and to be honest I dread the day we leave for the final time!

Review of Hucknall Day Nursery

I can't fault how Hucknall day nursery have managed my daughters first few weeks in the baby room. She would become upset on drop off and collection but the staff in the baby room have really built a bond with her so now she is happy to go in which reassures me she is enjoying it. I receive updates and photos throughout the day of her getting involved in activities which again is so reassuring that they are supporting her development everyday that she attends. One of managers, Kym, is very approachable and always available to deal with any queries.

Review of Hucknall Day Nursery

I would choose this nursery over and over again!! The love and effort they have put into my children who have attended can not be faulted. Nothing has ever been too much trouble and they have worked closely with me and my husband to make sure my youngest son's needs are met. My youngest has Down syndrome and I strongly believe that he has made so much progress in life due to him attending this nursery. All children are safe and loved whilst attending nursery and have so much fun throughout the day.

Review of Hucknall Day Nursery

I honestly cannot recommend enough. Having had one of my children attend previously and now having my second child currently attending, I feel I can genuinely speak from experience about how fantastic the nursery is. The staff are absolutely wonderful, caring, kind, patient and genuinely invested in the children. Both of my children have been made to feel safe, loved and valued, and it is such a comfort knowing they are in such capable hands when I'm not there. The amount of care and attention they give to each individual child really stands out. They support their development, encourage their independence and make learning fun, all while creating such a warm and welcoming environment. Having already experienced the nursery with my first child, choosing it again for my second child was an easy decision. A huge thank you to the whole team for everything you do. You really do make a difference to our children and give parents such peace of mind.

Overall, we have had an amazing experience at Hucknall Day Nursery. From my eldest child to my youngest, who is now heading into her final year of preschool, it has been wonderful to watch them develop, grow, and thrive during their time here. Seeing their progress has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling, thanks to the guidance, care, and support provided by the fantastic team. We are truly grateful for all they have done to help our children flourish.

I honestly cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. Life can sometimes feel like a roller coaster, with so many things changing from day to day, but dropping my daughter off here is one of the few things that gives me complete peace of mind. It has become a real source of reassurance and stability for our family, and knowing she is in such safe, caring hands makes all the difference. Every single member of staff has been kind, welcoming, professional and genuinely caring. They have created such a warm and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to learn, play and grow. My daughter absolutely loves coming here, and seeing how happy and excited she is each day reassures me that she feels safe, loved and valued. Thank you to all of the incredible staff for everything you do. Your kindness, dedication and hard work are truly appreciated, and I couldn't ask for a better place for my daughter.

I attended the Mother's Day afternoon tea the nursery and it's such a lovely experience to be able to share that with my little girl. She gets so excited when I'm able to visit and real care goes into these special events like mother's day, Christmas etc.

Review of Hucknall Day Nursery

We couldn't be happier with the care and support our two children have received at the nursery. Our eldest has been attending since 2022, and watching both of our children grow in confidence, develop new skills, and reach important milestones has been amazing. The dedication and genuine care shown by all of the staff have made such a positive difference to our family. The nursery provides a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment where our children are always excited to attend. It's clear that every member of the team genuinely cares about each child as an individual and goes above and beyond to support their learning and wellbeing. A special mention has to go to Kym. She is always so friendly, welcoming, and approachable. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble, and she's always available to talk whenever we have a question or need reassurance. Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine passion for what she does are evident every day.

Our daughter is leaving Hucknall Day Nursery and will be starting school in September. She's had 4 great years at Hucknall Day Nursery, made even special by their Graduation Event to celebrate the achievements of their Rising 5's. The moment was marked with songs, balloons and an afternoon garden party. Thank you for a great send off! She will miss everyone when she starts big school!
