About Freshfields Nursery School

Freshfields Nursery School is an OFSTED GOOD (2023) nursery in Clifford Chambers near Stratford-upon-Avon, based in Clifford Forge House, a beautiful Georgian manor with a homely, rural feel. Founded in 1990, the nursery provides high standards of individual care and pre-school education for children from birth to 5 years, with a strong focus on safeguarding and every childs personal, social and physical development. Families are welcomed into a calm, natural environment where children can feel secure, healthy and ready to learn.
Children benefit from over an acre of private gardens, with soft-pour playgrounds, purpose-built play areas and an on-site mini farm that brings daily contact with animals and nature. Each classroom has its own garden space, supporting free-flow outdoor play and age-appropriate exploration.
The team has a proven track record of nurturing well-developed, high-achieving children, using supportive relationships and rich play experiences to build confidence and independence. Strong links with families and the wider “Freshfields Family” community help parents feel involved and reassured throughout their childs nursery journey.

Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Hannah Lewis

Hi, I'm Hannah. I joined Freshfields Nursery School in 2010. I've always worked in childcare, starting my journey as a nursery practitioner and working my way up to nursery manager.

I am dedicated and passionate about our ethos and have high ambitions for children's learning and development during their time with us.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

We are so thankful & lucky to have had the most wonderful experience with Freshfields so far. Our son is currently in Snowdrops & it's been a seamless transition. The nursery team are so kind. We have noticed a huge developmental change in our son since being at Nursery and it's down to the 3 of them. They are generous with their time, always giving us space to talk/discuss and share. Our biggest concern was our son's eating, particularly with harder textures but his transition has felt effortless. We're amazed at how far he's come in just 2 months. They're incredibly calming & knowledgeable. Our son loves being at Nursery and the environment that they create for him is one that is loving, fun & nurturing. We couldn't trust them more with him & as first-time parents, it's been exactly what we could have hoped for and more. We couldn't sing their praises higher.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

We couldn't be more impressed with Freshfields. Our eldest has been there since he was 9 months old, and our youngest is due to start in August. The welcome the children received along with the happy, caring and kind nature of all the staff really makes us feel like part of the Freshfields Family. My son often comes home exhausted and muddy, but with a huge smile on his face having had the most fun and exciting day. Thank you, Freshfields.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

My daughter has been at Freshfields for just over a year now, she went in at young age of 9 months old which made me very nervous but the staff are so lovely and she thrived. She has moved up age groups over this period and you can see that the care and quality of staff is consistent throughout the age groups it wasn't just one department that we had a great experience with. They genuinely care about your family and your wellbeing as parents as well and always have the time to support and answer any developmental questions we may have. My daughter reaches for her key workers every morning for a hug which is lovely to see, and we love the focus on outdoor activities they have as well.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

My son has been at Freshfields since he was nine months old and is just about to turn three. I am beyond grateful for all of the support that the team have given us as a family. They are like an extension to us, and my son is so connected to his lovely key workers and members of staff there. The nursery is in a lovely setting, and the animals and outdoor areas are brilliant - the effort that all of the team go to, to make each day special for the children is truly lovely. All the team (whether in his class or not) know my son by his first name and chat with him when he comes in, in the morning. He is thriving there, and I could not speak more highly of everyone. Thank you, wonderful team!

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

My son has been going to Freshfields since he was eight months old and now goes daily. It’s his second home, and he is always so eager to be dropped off, often without even a wave goodbye, which is always a good illustration of the care and fun he enjoys. He has a wonderful rapport with the staff, who take pride in knowing each individual's strengths and weaknesses and adapting their care accordingly. The outdoor space is perfect, and the team encourage outdoor activity, meeting and greeting the vast amount of animals they have on-site, which is a wonderful asset to the nursery and for the children to have available to them. I’m grateful for the hard work, openness and communication the staff provide.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

We first visited Freshfields in 2017, and instantly, knew it was the place for our children. Our son joined in 2018 at eight months old and our daughter in 2020 at the same age, both going all the way through to the last class. The nursery setting is amazing with a little farm of their own and beautiful play areas for each class to explore and get dirty! However, it is without doubt that the staff that make this place so very special. Each member of staff has been so kind and caring and has educated our children to the highest standard preparing them for school. Our time at Freshfields comes to an end in July - we feel very lucky that our children (and us) have been part of the Freshfields family. We can honestly say that Freshfields is a very special place and would fully recommend it to any parent looking for a nursery in Stratford-upon-Avon or the local area.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

The staff here are amazing, from the manager down to all the girls in the rooms. My child is extremely well looked after and is engaged with very well. We have seen a remarkable progression in them since joining, and we are constantly updated about their progress and the activities they are doing. The staff go out of their way to make sure we parents are engaged with regularly. My child really enjoys it too. I couldn’t ask for any more or recommend Freshfields highly enough.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

My son has attended Freshfields Nursery since September 2022 at nine months old. The staff and management are very friendly, and you can tell they really care for the children. There have been huge positive changes since one lady came in as manager last year. My son loves going to nursery. They have a farm on site which was one of the main selling points for us, and the children get to experience lots of different animals. The outdoor area is great too. The classrooms are spacious. Handovers are always informative, which is great to know what our child has been getting up to whilst there.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

My two-year-old daughter has been full-time at Freshfields since she was 12 months old and absolutely loves it. I cannot speak highly enough of this nursery, and the staff are second to none. They are so friendly and caring, but with a great sense of fun, which I’m sure contributes to how happy my daughter is there. My almost 12 month is about to start, and I’m excited for her to start her Freshfields journey. I recommend this nursery to anyone who will listen!

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

Fantastic nursery. My little boy really enjoys coming to nursery. He gets his bag ready by the door every morning and is really excited to start his day. He loves visiting the farm animals and taking part in the amazing activities the staff provide. He’s been attending the nursery since he was nine months old, and we are really sad to be leaving in September for school. I highly recommend this nursery to all new parents, as I know it’s very hard to choose a nursery for your little one.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

It took my 12-month-old 2 weeks (she only goes to nursery twice a week) to settle into the nursery when she first started. She now loves going to nursery and I know she’s well looked after. Special thanks to the nursery staff. I love that the nursery has got its own little farm, which probably contributes to the fact that my toddler is not scared of any animal and will go up to pet any animal.. regardless of it being a chicken or rabbit, or a goat!

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

My children started at Freshfields Nursery School in February 2023, aged 9 months and 3.5 and I couldn't be happier with it. I chose this nursery mainly because they have a farm on site and it strikes a lovely balance between indoor and outdoor activities. I was a little nervous at first with the recent takeover, but the new Manager is fantastic. Most importantly, the staff are amazing - both kids settled so quickly and clearly adore their carers. They both go in so happily and my 3 year old is always very disappointed on non-nursery days!

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

Our daughter loves going into Freshfields, she has super relationships with the staff in her room, Bluebells. The Freshfields staff care and look after her so well. She has always loved all of the outdoor space and the animals, she finds the goats hilarious and is delighted with the latest additions of pigs! Communication is great in terms of hand over at home-time with key information about the day and also via the app. The app is a lovely way for us to share our daughter’s learning journey and the photos are delightful. We have always found our daughter to be so happy when we pick her up; a testament to what a wonderful day the staff have provided for her.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

My child is almost 3 and has attended Freshfields Nursery School since the age of 14 months. He has been in two different rooms and has flourished massively. The staff in each room have helped him to develop and experience a whole host of new experiences. He has always loved animals and being outdoors so this nursery has been perfect for him. He has made strong relationships to the staff he sees, and still asks for his old Key Worker! They have also been really accommodating towards his various medical needs. 10/10 would recommend!

We are delighted that we chose to send our daughter to Freshfields Nursery back in 2022. She has thrived since joining at 10 months old which is down to the hard work and dedication of the manager and her team. Our daughter gets excited at drop off, running in without so much as a wave goodbye to play with her friends and greet her key workers. Review of Freshfields Nursery School

The staff at Freshfields are very caring, constantly keeping us up to date either in person or via the app while our child was settling in and now full-time. We also love that there is a mini farm on site and they visit the animals regularly! We picked this nursery because it focuses on outside playing/learning as much as inside and we're happy we did as our child loves it there!

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

Our little boy has been at Freshfields Nursery School since the nurseries opened during lockdown. He is now three and enjoys attending Freshfields every day. We consistently felt that the staff in the rooms were excellent throughout, however, the management of things was always a little lacking. Communications were lacking and information was difficult to find. Recently there have been a lot of changes, including the loss of a few fantastic staff members. However, since the most recent manager took over management we have seen improvements in communications and involvement. The children spend a lot of time outdoors and are very lucky to have access to animals on site including pigs, rabbits and some Spring Lambs at the time of writing. My son enjoys animals a great deal and we are glad that he is able to enjoy these extra benefits at Freshfields. His teacher has worked hard to ensure that the transitions have impacted him as little as possible and he talks very fondly of her.

Review of Freshfields Nursery School

Our child loves going to Freshfields! The outside space is the biggest and best in the area - so much space and it even has a small farm with pigs, rabbits, chickens, goats and lambs. When the children are inside, they do so many activities throughout the day of which we enjoy getting the updates/photos via the app. The staff are all friendly, caring and they have gone above and beyond to help our child settle into nursery - of which she clearly loves and happily goes inside and doesn’t look back anymore!

I have had children at Freshfields since 2018 and I cannot recommend enough. Amazing staff who treat my children as their own. The best outdoor facilities possible with animals, mud kitchen and playhouse. My children have always been happy going in every morning.
