About Ellingham House Day Nursery
Ellingham House Day Nursery is an OFSTED GOOD (2024) nursery in Ringwood, offering a welcoming setting where children are supported to learn through play in a calm and caring environment. Housed within a large, characterful building, the nursery provides a reassuring sense of space while maintaining a warm, homely atmosphere for children and families.
Learning follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and is tailored to children’s individual stages of development. Experiences may include sensory play, early communication, stories, creative activities and opportunities for independence as children grow in confidence.
Children benefit from regular access to outdoor spaces as part of their day, supporting movement, exploration and fresh-air play. Time outside complements indoor learning and helps children develop physical skills and resilience in a natural way.
The nursery places strong emphasis on partnership with families. Clear, open communication supports consistency between home and nursery, offering reassurance and shared understanding as children develop.

Nutritional Approach
We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.
All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Meet Our Nursery Manager
Emma Inman
Hi, I'm Emma. I've been working at Ellingham House for over a decade. I left college in 2012 after qualifying as a nursery nurse and began my career here. I have spent the majority of my time working with the under twos, which I am very passionate about. I love encouraging children's learning and development from a young age through a variety of different play experiences, helping them explore and learn about the environment around them.
After working here for around five years, I completed my Foundation Degree in Early Years. Completing my degree gave me a much deeper understanding of how children play, learn and develop, allowing me to share this knowledge with the team. Together, we have the best opportunities to support and nurture the children around us, providing them with a fantastic start to their early years.

Our Curriculum
At Ellingham House, everything we do is built around helping children feel safe, confident, curious and capable. Our nursery is set in beautiful rural grounds, and we make full use of this natural environment every day. Outdoor learning, play, relationships and independence are at the heart of our approach.
We believe children learn best through play, which allows them to explore ideas, practise new skills, develop language, solve problems and build friendships. Our team carefully plans activities and environments that spark curiosity while following children's interests, supporting them throughout each day by introducing new words, helping them understand their feelings and offering support when challenges arise.
Outdoor learning is a vital part of our curriculum. Children spend time outside in all seasons, which helps them build physical strength and coordination, develop curiosity about the natural world, learn to manage risks and grow in confidence and independence. Activities may include gardening, exploring mud kitchens, seasonal walks, outdoor sleeping and forest-style play.
