About Rushden Day Nursery

Rushden Day Nursery is an OFSTED GOOD (2023) nursery in Rushden, on Highfield Road. Our nursery welcomes children aged 6 weeks to 5 years into a beautiful converted 1930s character building, with strong safeguarding and nurturing care that helps every child feel secure and inspired. We promote parent partnerships through photo updates and Dragonflies club connections with local schools.
Our welcoming rooms meet individual needs while working towards the Curiosity Approach, creating inspiring play spaces amid charming 1930s features. Our quality team nurtures curiosity and emotional growth through thoughtful daily routines.
Our open spaces near Rushden Lakes delight children with secure gardens for joyful outdoor discovery. Before and after school club supports 4–11 year olds transitioning to Southend and Whitefriars schools. Opportunities may include sensory play and community outings.

Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Meet Our Nursery Manager

Emma Hedges

Hello, I'm Emma, the manager at Rushden Day Nursery. I've been working in childcare since January 2004 and joined Rushden in August 2011. I hold my Early Years Teacher Status and BA Honours in Childhood Studies.

With over fifteen years of experience as a manager, supporting families with complex SEN needs is my passion. I want to ensure they have the same opportunities readily offered on a day to day basis. Treating all families in a unique way helps them feel part of the Rushden Day Nursery family. With a high level of SEN experience from myself and my team, we're able to support all families, and more importantly, families who really need it.

My vision is to continuously provide quality childcare and education for all children. Forming strong relationships with all families is key to delivering quality care. My main passion is making a difference to the families we care for.

My little one has attended since 9 months old and I couldn't ask for a better nursery. My baby loves being there and gets excited when we get to the carpark, staff are all friendly and helpful, communication is great and she has absolutely thrived since being there.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

Staff are caring and attentive to children. My son started nurcery at 12 Month old and settled really well. Nurcery has lots of good activities age appropriate. Rooms have space and are kept clean. He been developing well due to all the activities ad care he been receiving. Management is supportive and allways there to answer any questions.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

We are very very happy with the care and support our son received at this nursery. All of the teachers had a wonderful approach towards him. My husband and I are truly grateful for everything you have done. Our son always came home happy and smiling which showed us how comfortable and safe he felt there. The teachers truly do their job with passion and dedication. They are caring, patient and fully committed to the children's wellbeing and development. We sincerely appreciate all the love and effort you put every single day. We highly recommend this nursery.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

My son currently attends and my daughter previously attended. The staff are amazing at Rushden Day Nursery and always make time to achieve a safe handover. The staff are consistent and it speaks volumes that the staff present now are the same as when my daughter attended previously. All of the staff are observant and responsive to the individual child's needs and they consistently go above and beyond.

I have had two children attend Rushden Day Nursery and I/they wouldn't want to attend anywhere else. My children have always been very happy and settled attending nursery. My son is a high needs SEN child and the nursery have gone above and beyond to ensure he has a happy and safe environment to learn in.

We have two children (1 year and 3 years) who attend Rushden Day Nursery. We have never had any concerns over the last year of using the nursery. The staff are friendly and its clear to see how much they care for the children.

They've helped my son loads, he is so much more confident in himself. When I expressed concerns for him being autistic they listened to me and are supporting not only my son but us as parents too. The staff are lovely and friendly always are so welcoming.

My daughter started at the nursery when she was 2 and she absolutely thrived, she has now left there and still asks about the staff. I'm also going to be enrolling my youngest into there when he turns 2, the staff went above and beyond to help me, they are absolutely amazing.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

My son is 2 years old with Down syndrome. I looked around a few nurseries but this nursery stood out in terms of showing confidence and being able to support a child with special needs. Since attending the nursery my son is absolutely thriving! Great educational support is given through different forms of play, and they really supported him with his mobility needs and feeding needs. My son has a great bond with all staff and they are like a family to him. He is very loved and supported. I know that my son feels safe and secure because when I leave him to go to work he easily goes to staff and is content and happy. My son is coming on so well! Thank you so much to all of the staff at the nursery, you are amazing!

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

My son has been attending Rushden Day Nursery since May 2021. They have been fantastic with him, I can not fault them. His key worker, when he was full time went above and beyond and all the staff have made him feel safe and happy. He now attends the Dragonflies holiday club and is always excited to go. Their flexible hours compared to other nurseries are fantastic and their helpfulness with forms etc. I can not fault.

My daughter has been attending Rushden Day Nursery since she was 2, and now also attends before and after school club at Dragonflies. The staff have taken such good care of her and she feels so happy and comfortable when in their care. All staff members go above and beyond with the children and I can only thank them for helping us over the years.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

My grandson is 4 and has been at Rushden Day Nursery since he was 11 months old. He has always formed bonds with all the staff in the different rooms he’s been in through the nursery. He has also formed some good relationships with the other children in the room. There are always lots of different activities set up for him to take part in and the room offers lots of learning opportunities and preparation for school. I will miss the nursery when he leaves for school in September but I will definitely be booking him in for the Dragonflies after-school club and holiday club.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

My son has been attending Rushden Day Nursery since he was 8 months old, he is now 9 years old and still attends the out-of-school club. My son has thoroughly enjoyed attending and often asks when he will be going next. I highly recommend the nursery through all the stages of growing up, from baby to school. Breakfast club and after-school clubs are a bonus too. We love how flexible the nursery is. My daughter will also be attending in September when she is 9 months old. Cannot wait for her to be involved with other children similar to her age group. It’s lovely that she will be attending the same nursery that helped our son grow. A lot of thought goes into play and learning with all the activities they get involved with. We are very happy with the care Rushden Day Nursery provides.

My daughter has attended this nursery since she was 7 months old, and is now 6 attending the dragonflies. She has been in every room and has thrived, always had a massive smile on her face. The staff have always given amazing handovers about her days and as a parent this makes you feel so at ease. All this is down the the dedication and love the staff have shown over the years! Review of Rushden Day Nursery

My youngest, who is 4, goes to Rushden Day Nursery and has been there since he was 10 months old. He loves going to nursery on the days that he is there and has formed amazing connections with all the staff in all the rooms he has been in. He has also formed amazing friendships with the children in his room. The activities that he does whilst at nursery are full of learning opportunities and he learns new things every week. We are really going to miss the nursery when he goes to school in September but he will be back to see them in the holidays for the dragonflies holiday club.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

Both of my children have attended Rushden Day Nursery and I have never had one single problem. My children both formed very strong attachments to members of staff in their room and I feel they were and are very well looked after by staff. All staff are so helpful and friendly and I would strongly recommend anyone to send their child to this nursery. I feel I am a very picky person but I absolutely cannot fault them.

Review of Rushden Day Nursery

All 3 of my children have come to this nursery, they welcome everyone with a great big smile every morning the staff and management are amazing no matter how big or small a question their door is always open (quite literally). My child loves to knock on the door to say goodbye when she leaves. When the staff are at the schools doing pick-ups for after-school club they always are surrounded by children telling them about their day whether they have been with them in the morning at preschool or not. They always have the time of day to say hi even if it is a weekend and we see them in a shop. My girls always come home singing and laughing and have so much to say about what they have been up to and when I get to see them on the app and what they have done and eating when they are signed in or out of the building it gives me such comfort to know how safe they are. Most of all, each child has their keyworker which all 3 of mine had the same one so it's lovely because she now feels like she is a part of our family.
