About Kids Play - Bury St Edmunds Day Nursery
Kids Play – Bury St Edmunds Day Nursery is an OFSTED GOOD (2023) nursery on Newmarket Road. The nursery offers nature-based play for children from 6 weeks to 5 years in rooms that allow free movement between indoors and outdoors. A supportive, friendly team focuses on making learning fun and building strong relationships with both children and parents.
Outdoors, children can choose from activities that may include water and sand play, time in the growing patch and messy fun in the mud kitchen. Indoors, natural wooden toys and real vegetables in the play kitchens encourage imaginative, hands-on learning.
The nursery uses “planning in the moment” so practitioners can turn everyday interests into learning opportunities. External visits may include small-group trips to local shops, the post office or even the vets.
All food is freshly cooked on site, with menus prepared by a nutritionist and meat adhering to Red Tractor standards. The team also supports families through initiatives such as a baby bank for essential items.

Nutritional Approach
We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.
All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Meet Our Nursery Manager
Zara Rowe
Hi, I'm Zara, the manager at Kids Play Bury St Edmunds Day Nursery. I joined the company in June 2015 and started as a bank member. I've worked my way up through different roles including practitioner, room leader, deputy, and now manager. I completed my Level 3 with Kids Play as well as Forest School Level 3.
The nursery approaches childcare with empathy and understanding, building bonds with children and parents. Being child centred means following their interests and supporting their individual needs.
What I love most is how rewarding it is. Seeing the children grow from babies all the way to preschool is incredible. The team, the support, and the enthusiasm make everything worthwhile. Watching children achieve, seeing staff achieve, and making parents feel comfortable and safe are what drive me every day.

Our Commitments
Our curriculum is built around five core commitments that guide how we nurture every child.

Our Curriculum
Our curriculum has four key points that start from our baby room all the way to preschool, following a clear sequence. We focus on independence, regulating emotions, understanding the world and becoming confident communicators.
We believe all children who come to our nursery can achieve these areas before going to school. We adapt to each child's needs, and they can achieve in their own way and at their own pace.
