Nutritional Approach

We believe food is fundamental to healthy growth, happy minds, and positive lifelong habits. In the earliest years, what children eat shapes taste preferences, supports brain development, and lays the foundations for long-term health.

All meals are freshly prepared on site each day using quality, seasonal ingredients. Our menus are developed with expert guidance, designed for inclusion, and go beyond Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. We want every child to become a confident, curious eater.

Meet Our Nursery Manager

Toni Curran

Hi, I'm Toni, the manager at Footsteps Nursery Cannock. I've been working in childcare since I was sixteen and qualified in 2010 as a Level 3 practitioner. I went on to gain experience in both schools and private settings before joining Footsteps in 2019 as a room leader in preschool. I've worked across all the rooms and gradually made my way up to nursery manager.

The nursery's approach to childcare is nurturing, child centred, and inclusive. The team creates a safe, stimulating environment where children feel secure, valued, and confident to explore. By building strong relationships and following each child's interests, the nursery supports individual development and inspires a lifelong love of learning.

Early years is what I love most. Watching children learn and grow from babies through to preschool and knowing you've been part of their learning journey is amazing.

Review of Footsteps Nursery Cannock

Our little boy has flourished since joining the nursery 2 and a half years ago. Every room has tailored to his needs, nothing is too much to ask. From potty training to learning numbers & letters, he has continued to thrive with the support of everybody. He has really struggled with fussy eating and the ladies have gone above and beyond to support us as parents improve this. To say he's now eating soup is a miracle! All staff are exceptional, we would highly recommend this nursery.

Throughout every room, they have been incredibly lucky to have such amazing key persons, supported by fantastic colleagues. My daughter started at footsteps in November last year. As a first time mom and someone who works within the early years sector, finding the right nursery was extremely difficult but from her very first settle the girls have been amazing! All the girls in the baby room have been so welcoming and supportive. Her key worker sends me updates and photos which clearly show how much fun my daughter is having and how well she has settled in.

We couldn't be happier with the care our child receives at Footsteps. Since joining, we've seen such a massive leap in our child's confidence and social skills. The staff are incredibly attentive and always find creative ways to keep the children engaged. It's a joy to see our little one so excited to go in every morning. I have nothing but positive words to write about this Nursery. As a Mother of a child who attends here I have never felt so reassured in that my child is cared for well and is safe. My child is treated with kindness, care and love every single day. All staff are polite, friendly and have supported my child's development and learning tremendously. My child eats delicious nutritious filled meals daily whilst on attendance and enjoys all of the crafts, activities, toys and outside area which is not only fun but safe. The first thing I will say is that our daughter is always so excited to go to nursery which, to be honest, could be the end of the review! Always had good experiences. The staff are open and transparent, never feel like we have to push to get answers to any questions we have. Lots of activities for the kids and communication is fantastic. As a first-time parent, choosing a nursery was daunting, but I honestly couldn't be happier. The staff are absolutely amazing, so friendly, caring, and reassuring. They always take the time to update me on how my little one has settled, which I really appreciate. In every room, the staff have taken the time to get to know my child as an individual, and I can genuinely see the difference in my little one each time they move into a new room as they continue to grow and develop. The nursery itself is always tidy, and the activities they plan for the children are engaging, fun, and clearly well thought out. They do a lot of crafts, and we always look forward to receiving the artwork, especially the seasonal packs for occasions like Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Christmas, they're such a lovely touch. The children are also encouraged to go outside as much as possible! The new chef is a great addition, the food is delicious. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough.

Footstep is an amazing nursery and my little one has so much fun. He is currently in the baby room and the staff have been brilliant with him. While settling in they were always so reassuring send photos of the activities which he participated in which really helped ease my mind as he was upset at drop off for a little while. I also love that no matter which staff member you walk past they always greet my son by his name. I am sent pictures daily of the activities he is doing and they do so much. All the staff are friendly and chatty and always seem so happy making a cosy and relaxed setting. We are so glad we chose footsteps and are excited to see what he gets up to on his journey there.

All the staff at Footsteps are wonderful. My daughter has multiple IgE allergies. The staff go to great lengths to keep my daughter safe and to make sure she feels included at meal times. I would highly recommend Footsteps for any parent worried about their child's allergies.

My daughter has been here almost a year and has been in 3 classes, every single class she's been in have been so great with her especially me being a first time mom and scared to leave her but I feel at ease knowing she's here and not somewhere else, my daughter is always treated so lovely and with respect they have made me feel like she is valued so much so that they actually bought in a toy I said she enjoys and plays with at home so she had more to play with as she's abit funny with messy play, the staff there are just so friendly and with all the kids they see each day they remember each of their names, the menus are fantastic and they are always asking for input from the parents with meals and allergy's. My daughter enjoys it here so much and I feel so happy to bring her here it's always so clean and tidy and the classes are excellent and the outside with the climbing frames just amazing! Well done Footsteps Cannock you have one extremely happy mommy!

My baby went for his first settling in sessions in December with Footsteps, Cannock. I was e blown away by the kindness of all the staff. I was a very nervous mother leaving her baby for the first time, they were patient and took there time with me answering all my questions. I was updated on the family app within the first hour leaving me feeling so reassured and happy. On Rory's first day I was given the sweetest little gift, totally blown away (tears were shed) how lovely and personable. So happy we chose this nursery for our son.

My daughter started at footsteps in September 2025 and I was extremely nervous putting my trust into a childcare place however footsteps put my mind at ease. Since being at nursery my daughter has flourished and grown so much and loves going in. I love the fact that the children have key workers and you can address any concerns with them and it is dealt with. They are quick at responding to any messages placed on the nursery platform and keep parents informed on everything that is happening with the nursery.

Superb care and compassion for my child. Engaging activities with special event days often through the month. Encouragement for kids to gain confidence and new skills. Emphasis on life skills like turn taking, writing, sharing and care for others and outdoors. Plenty of outdoor time and opportunity for play. Lots of good group activities. I now have my 2nd daughter attend this nursery as they have continued to be amazing. My daughter is so happy going in and you can see how comfortable she is there with her peers and the staff, its almost like a second home to her. I feel I have come to know all the staff with all the years I have been going that its a comfort to see those same familiar faces looking after my children. I always recommend this nursery as I have had no issues, the staff are incredible at what they do and how much they have helped my daughters with their development which is so wonderful to see.

They are so attentive and caring especially as he struggles with eczema and has a cows milk allergy. They do different activities everyday and the food he is qiven is so varied. Footsteps Cannock is a wonderful nursery and would highly recommend to anyone seeking a placement. Staff are so wonderfully attentive to my son's needs. He requires additional support with social interaction and eating - footsteps go above and beyond to accommodate his needs and provide activities to help gain his confidence. I am provided with a detailed run down of his day with pictures without fail and additional information on activities is provided on collection. There is always a varied range of activities that are provided for him. He is given opportunities to venture out with his little friends too which I absolutely love! The building itself is incredibly secure and I and am put at ease knowing AC is available in the hot summer period. The outside play areas are absolutely perfect. The area is well looked after, as well as the rooms. I can leave my son to go to work knowing he is happy and in very capable, safe hands. I'm happy I have put my trust into this nursery.

As my maternity leave came to an end, I viewed lots of nurseries to find the best fit for my son. Every nursery seemed to not meet my high expectations, as I work with children myself and know how I'd expect my own child to be looked after. Someone suggested I look at Footsteps in Cannock and I made an appointment to tour the nursery. My expectations were met and even better, exceeded. The staff are so kind and welcoming, they made me feel supported as I talked about my nerves of leaving my baby to go back to work. The premises is very secure with biometric security doors and rooms are well maintained and clean. Lots of Montessori style teaching and resources which I am a fan of. My son did 2 settling in sessions where I was updated throughout his whole time via the app on how he was getting on. He has started there this week properly and everyday he looks happy and relaxed in the pics. Which as a mother, tells you everything. I am beyond happy with the care and support he receives.

My daughter joined Sept 25, the tour around was very informative and I loved the fact you cannot just walk into the nursery a finger print is required. I like this security feature and the reassurance that my daughter is on cctv. She started in lower movers working her way up and every room she has built some super strong relationships with fellow children and staff! I highly recommend footsteps they really take pride in the care of children, thinking about educational activities as well as an excellent selection of food.

Being an ex Nursery nurse myself, I felt the anxiety and stresses about my little boy starting nursery when I returned to work. Knowing what they can be like when you're not around worried me every second of the day until I collected him during the run up to his start date however, his first settle session put all of my worries at ease. The team in the baby room were fantastic, we really cannot praise and recommend them enough. They helped carve a second home for our boy and created an environment and relationships that any parent dreams about. He settled into nursery like a dream and they love him as much as he loves them, he doesn't stick around to say goodbye anymore, as soon as he's through the door he's off! He's moved up to a bigger room now but he knows all of the staff so well, we just know he's going to love it! I can't recommend this nursery and the team enough, they truly are amazing!

Footsteps is warm and welcome nursery. Not only does my daughter still go there, but my son also went there. The experience over the last 3 years has been amazing. Support with Oakley, being autistic from sen teachers have been amazing. All supported and sent him in the right direction.And now he in special school. We recently moved our daughter to Footsteps Cannock Nursery & Pre-School, and the change in her development and willingness to attend has been incredible! Compared to her previous nursery, she is so much happier here, and we are beyond relieved that she absolutely loves it. The staff are amazing-always informative about her day and incredibly supportive of any requirements we have. Despite only attending for about three weeks, she was already able to participate in a trip to buy stamps for their Valentine's letters, which was such a lovely experience for her. The nursery's security system gives us great peace of mind, and the cleanliness is outstanding. I really appreciate being able to enter the classroom for drop-off while maintaining hygiene by removing our shoes. We can't thank the team and management enough for everything they do to create such a positive and nurturing environment. Well done to everyone at Footsteps - your hard work truly makes a difference!

Review of Footsteps Nursery Cannock

My little one has been going since he was 13 months old. He's now 2. The Baby room was amazing at supporting us both in our new routines. A special thank you to one member of staff in particular. He has now progressed through 3 rooms in total and they have all helped him develop so much. He knows lots of songs and signs and his speech has come on loads. I love that we get pictures every day and a description of what he has been up to. They do lots of different activities to keep them entertained: painting, gardening, singing, signing and sand play etc.

Having a child with a significant medical condition, it was hard to find a setting that understood her needs but also didn't treat her like just this child with a medical condition. From the beginning, the staff were thorough in understanding my daughter's needs and symptoms and this has continued with each room she has attended. My daughter has thrived since being at Footsteps and the staff have gone above and beyond to ensure she develops and is cared for. Any concerns/questions I have are dealt with quickly and efficiently by the team. My daughter enjoys attending the setting and her daily diaries allow me to continue the learning she has done at nursery at home.

Lovely nursery. My child has been nurtured, and his development is fantastic! A really great system so you can see how your baby is doing every day, including what he has eaten and wet and dirty nappies. He comes back full of joy, singing and dancing and has grown attached to everyone there. The nursery has catered for my baby's dietary needs too.

As a parent of a child with additional needs, I cannot rate this nursery any higher. The love and care given to my son beginning in the baby room up until now being in preschool is second to none. The girls genuinely care for my son and nothing is ever too much. They meet all his needs to a very high standard, from ensuring his sensory needs are met to giving him a safe environment to engage in play. The staff know my son inside out and have built strong positive relationships with him. He runs into the nursery full of smiles, first of all heading down to the kitchen to see the nursery chef who provides healthy delicious meals that he loves. He then is greeted by his friendly practitioners and they are always so welcoming which is all you want when you are sending your entire world into the arms of others. The daily diaries are the most wonderful part of my day where I get to see my son through photos taken throughout the day. The manager and her staff are brilliant, I wouldn’t send my child elsewhere.

My son has recently started in the baby room and honestly, we couldn't be happier with how amazing all of the staff have been. Prior to us starting the nursery manager had so much time for us, showing us around and reassuring any worries. We didn't feel anything was too much trouble. The staff in the baby room are so attentive, warm and nurturing. As soon as you walk into the room there is happy energy, singing and lots of smiles from both staff and children. The room itself is spotless with a wide range of age-appropriate toys, books etc. The room is bright and child-centred. Children are offered a wide range of meals and nothing feels too much trouble re: dietary needs. My son's keyworker spent time getting to know him and this was evident in the detailed daily write-ups about him which are so individual to him it's so lovely and reassuring. The staff really care and that makes me feel at ease when leaving my little one. Thank you Footsteps for an amazing start for my son.

My daughter has been attending nursery since 9 months old and is currently in rising 3s. I cannot fault the care she receives. She has grown so much since being at the nursery. Although she only attends twice a week, she always counts down the days to go back. There is always great communication from staff to parents and this has greatly improved since the parent app was introduced. As a working parent, it really allows me to feel involved in my daughter's day at nursery with updates and photos. You are all amazing and I would not hesitate to recommend Footsteps to anyone considering a nursery place.

The staff at Footsteps are fantastic and go out of their way to make the children happy and parents reassured. My little boy takes a while to settle after I drop him off, and the staff always give him a cuddle and distract him, then put photos on the app so I can see him happily playing. He tells me that his teacher is kind and he loves her, and I couldn’t ask for anything more. At pick up, the staff tell you what the children have been doing in the day and sometimes come home with pictures or food the children have made. The children take part in a good variety of activities, and they get to play out in the garden. I’m really pleased with how my boy has developed since attending Footsteps; it has encouraged him to play with other children, and most importantly for us, he has lots of fun.

Footsteps has been a fantastic nursery and preschool for us - we have had both of our boys attend, one has recently left to go to reception class and is well socialised, had a head start on writing skills etc. All staff are lovely and helpful, and support the children in many different ways. My son joined the nursery in the lower movers class in when he was 14 months old and prior to this, he had never been left alone with anyone so you can imagine this was a huge step for us both! I can honestly say from our first visit, and the settle-in sessions we had, I was assured he would be safe and well looked after and he loves going to nursery! All the staff in lower and movers are so kind, caring, compassionate and loving towards my son and the other children, which is lovely to see! He has a good variety of activities and play to help him develop and he’s come on really well since starting. They have accommodated his allergies and the home-cooked food is healthy, varied and amazing. The manager and her deputy are very visible, involved in my son’s care and are accessible, which is a great leadership style to see! The receptionist is also very friendly and helpful with any queries. I would highly recommend this lovely nursery to anyone!

Footsteps have been amazing with our daughter. She has come on leaps and bounds since joining. Being our firstborn, her social skills with other babies and children were limited but Footsteps have really helped with this. My daughter also suffers from eczema and allergies and Footsteps have been brilliant with this!

The girls always go above and beyond for my daughter who has special needs! They meet all her needs (which are very high and demanding). They not only look after my daughter but they also look after me too. I can't thank them enough for everything they do for us!

The girls in the preschool room are simply excellent. They go over and above every day to provide a great environment for my son. Having previously attended a different nursery, the difference is abundantly clear and my son is thriving. This is all backed by a conscientious, skilled and professional management team.

Review of Footsteps Nursery Cannock

We have used Footsteps in Cannock for both our children since 2017 and cannot speak highly enough of the manager, the staff and the attention to detail and care put into the nursery and the children. It is a very happy environment with a variety of activities and varied enrichment for all the ages. Nothing is ever too much trouble and staff are always very friendly, welcoming and approachable.
