Settling In

Starting nursery is a big milestone for your child and for you. We take great care to make this transition feel gentle, calm and reassuring. From those first conversations before they start with us to the ongoing updates once they are happily settled, we are here for you every step of the way.

Working in partnership with you

We believe that the best outcomes for children happen when families and nurseries work closely together. You know your child better than anyone, and we want to build a genuine partnership with you, one that keeps you connected, informed and involved in your child's time at nursery, and their learning and development.

Before your child starts with us

Once you are enrolled, a member of our Customer Experience Team will stay in touch with you in the lead‑up to your child’s start date. These calls are a gentle opportunity to talk through any questions you may have and help you feel informed, confident, and fully supported for the journey ahead. Please know that no question is ever too small or too big—our team is here for you every step of the way to ensure you feel comfortable and reassured.

You will usually hear from us around 12 weeks, 8 weeks and 4 weeks before your child starts nursery. These regular check-ins help bridge the time between enrolment and settling-in sessions.

Your child's key person

Every child is supported by a dedicated key person and a buddy, ensuring consistent care and reassurance each day. These familiar faces build warm, trusting relationships with both you and your child. They take the lead in supporting your child’s learning and development while helping them grow in confidence and resilience.

A gentle introduction

Creating a sense of comfort and familiarity is an important part of helping your child settle into nursery life. To support this, we invite you and your child to attend settling-in sessions with their key person. These sessions are guided by your child’s individual pace, allowing for a gentle and personal transition into their new environment.

Support during arrival and collection times

Your child's key person will also be there during arrival and collection times, providing a nurturing and supportive transition each day. A familiar face makes all the difference in helping your child feel safe and secure.

Every nursery is unique

The settling-in period looks a little different at each of our nurseries. Your Nursery Manager will talk you through exactly how it works at your setting, so you and your child feels fully guided, supported and prepared.

Our support doesn’t stop once your child has settled. The relationship you build with your child’s key person and the wider team will continue to grow from strength to strength. We are always here to work in partnership with you, whether you have questions, concerns, or simply want to chat about how your child is getting on.

Stay connected through Famly

You will receive regular updates about your child through our Famly app. From photos and observations to information about their day, you will always feel connected to what is happening at the nursery, even when you are not there.

Your feedback matters

We regularly ask for your feedback through questionnaires and surveys, as your thoughts help us understand what we are doing well and where we can improve. Partnership means listening, and we take what you tell us seriously. We are committed to providing the very best care and education for every child, and our teams are always looking for ways to make nursery even better for children and their families.
